10€ is not a lot, but it will stop a lot of players migrating from TM1. At the very least there should be a trial version of some sort (don't say TM1 is a trial version, because they are different).

It's not that 10€ is a lot, but even paying 0.1€ would stop some people from buying, because they're not able to make online purchases, or because they wouldn't want to buy something without having tried it first. I think a trial therefore would be necessary.

I though the whole point of S² was to migrate people from TM1 to TM2, but understanding that most TM1 players haven't paid for anything, it is weird to have them pay for this change. I understand money is important, but it seems weird that they target non-paying people, when it seemed obvious that this transition shouldn't cost anything. I'm not saying they shouldn't, considering that S² has its advantages, such as more blocks and an improved editor, but from a players view, these changes don't offer them too much of a difference to be worthy of their 10€.

If anything, a trial version should be made. I think it should limit the player to only play up to 3 servers a day, with a restricted editor, and maybe allow for only one title to be downloaded and tested. Maybe with some passive-aggressive banners telling the player to upgrade to the full version.

Nice text, eie. I agree to every point you talked about except the last. In my opinion it would be better to release a multiplayer-demo that allows you to play online, but other features like building tracks, editing replays, the solo-mode, changing the carskin etc. should be erased.
The problem is that owners of the full version are also punished, if Nadeo refuses to release a demo or if they make the multiplayer of a demo unplayable with some senseless limitations. Something like that keeps new players away and the servers are still empty.
I think it's time to go back to Nations Forever.

Well, im pulling the plug out of Forever at last at 01.01.14, and only provide maniaplanet servers (yes you may play on our servers for free ....) but probably sooner. Wouldnt mind if Nadeo did the same :)

It's not easy to balance the free and the restricted features for a demo version. An access to multiplayer is important to be able to test the game. But the access should be limited, because the purpose of a demo is to convince the player that he likes the game and he buys the full version, isn't it? I assume that there are a lot of players who are only interested in multiplayer, not in editing or skinning. So they would get all they want with an unlimitied-MP-demo. There must be an incentive for these players to buy the game.

You might only be able to place grass again if there is no dirt hill - dirt must be flat.
And also try to hold down the X key ("delete block") when placing the dirt or another block.

TMarc is right--dirt must be "deleted" to get back to grass.
