I'm just going to restate this here, because I personally think allowing custom objects in the main titles is a bad idea.mattw_cstrfan wrote:Just my two cents: If custom objects were usable in the main TM2/SM titles, I feel it would destroy the spirit of the game; tipping the playing (or rather, map-making) field unfairly in favor of those who can model out anything they please as opposed to having to rely on the same set of building blocks as everyone else.
well technically everybody would have access to making custom objects. i mean everyone also has access to making custom skins. but barely anyone actually does make them or even use them.mattw_cstrfan wrote:I'm just going to restate this here, because I personally think allowing custom objects in the main titles is a bad idea.mattw_cstrfan wrote:Just my two cents: If custom objects were usable in the main TM2/SM titles, I feel it would destroy the spirit of the game; tipping the playing (or rather, map-making) field unfairly in favor of those who can model out anything they please as opposed to having to rely on the same set of building blocks as everyone else.
But that's just me.
Actually, I have to agree with this. The reason why I never went into the trouble of creating a title pack was, that I won't have anyone playing my map afterwards because of the hassle to download the title pack. I'm really looking forward to see how this will develop.bobbotheclown wrote: the very worst that could happen is the normal blocks could become irrelevant. but its very unlikely in my opinion seeing you cant actually custom spawn points or starting lines. and its already such a powerful editor without it.
I think we should let it play out and if its bad its bad. but it look to me like it will bring a lot more to the table in terms of variety in maps/tracks.
Making custom models is not an easy skill set, and it's not one that everyone has. A comparison to making custom skins is also irrelevant because those have no actual effect towards the gameplay; custom objects do. Do you really think that allowing something like this in the main title is really fair towards every other person making tracks?bobbotheclown wrote:well technically everybody would have access to making custom objects. i mean everyone also has access to making custom skins. but barely anyone actually does make them or even use them.
