Many things have been changed, added, fixed; bug fixes and optimisations are most of the time invisible.
Some blocks have been remade 100% from scratch because there was too much problems. Visually you don't see the change at first sight, but they cost half the price in performance, have better levels of details, better lightmap, better texturing.
-Some missing variants have been added as well. Valley has received many new blocs and heavy optimisations.
-Reaching 60 fps on consoles asked a lot of work from programmers and artists.
-Making all the TMTurbo Art direction additions (All racing blocks and turbos, funky decoration items, Boards and adverts, helicopter, cars, car paints, Stadium's city Warp and logo towers, rework of block textures, sounds, etc...) took time, hard work and additional people.
As the Art team worked months on this, you'll have to trust me they are not the same : they are upgraded and modified versions of the originals. A game is not just what you see on the screen (well, even with image comparison one can see it's not the same as maniaplanet).
It's a console version of the last version of Trackmania,
not a sequel.

I think thats a point a lot of people still have to realize !!
If you want to play just for fun you can play on TMT.
If you want to play with competition, funcups (ex. Smurfscups), dedimania, titlepacks, homemade custom skins, tracks bigger then 7500 coppers (like the District25 map made by the community), community made embedded blocks (like the numerous amount of blocks made by Xrayjay) etc. etc. etc, you will have to go to Maniaplanet where you will find the same blocks as in TMT after the update to MP4.
So both games are fun but you have to look at them as seperate games !
And yes, i also bought TMT to enjoy both games as much as i want !

Hm. I'm curious. Would these block improvements also be brought to MP? Considering changing the blocks would likely result in invalidating most record times.

You are right that we may have to break the records on one day depending of the choices we are going to make. Would it be for the benefit of the quality work made on optimizing the blocks, I would do it. for record owners, at least, they would know that they got it forever. But many things still has to be decided.

I would say go for it. At the very least, you might make a difference of maybe 0.100 on times. However it's best to have it be possible to go a little faster rather than slower than existing world records, so actually achieving a good balance there would be a challenge :/

Does it matter if its 0.100 or 2.000 ?? Broken is broken, no matter what.
I think a lot of people of the community will absolutely complain when all the recs are broken because they do not read these forums or are not well informed about the how and why of the updates. So its a bit to easy to just say yeeah go for it/.
If you are going that way you have to make sure its first absolutely needed, and second that you will explain really, really well to the community in all possible ways, why its needed to change, so that anyone will understand it and agree with the reason why it was nescessary.

Yes, there's a huge difference between 2 seconds and 100 milliseconds. <= 100ms on a 45-second track is nearly invisible to even the most top players. However from the fixes that I hear about it's likely not even going to be a 50ms difference, so I don't deem it that big of a change myself.

It would still break PF tracks.

If it would improve the game considerably, (block updates for mp4) I think it's worth it to break PF maps or records.
I think some people that hold world records might be dissapointed though.

Well, even 50ms can make a difference on
- PF tracks
- Tracks from for example Falkers, where everything is measured with speed and distance
- Tracks where you have jumps that need a minimum of speed
- Smooth tracks with smooth starts can be slightly not smooth anymore
The point is imo not how huge the difference is, but if it does happen, it has to be explained well to the community that it is nescessary.
I remember the last 2 changes that had some effect:
1) avoiding the cars to run faster backwards then forward
Backwardsbug
2) Fixing the start bug
Start Bug
Both bugs were nescessary solved, but it needed a good explanation as welL to a lot of people why it was nescessary.
Anyway enough said about TM, i think this topic was ment for TMT
