This is known formally as "the straw man fallacy". I had been following this game pretty closely actually, your pretentious comments really aren't appreciated. Nowhere had I seen "this game will ship with roughly 1/7 the content of our previous game".
£20 for this amount of game content is highway robbery.
My apologies. I meant no disrespect. And I'm certainly not intending to be pretentious. I apologize if any of my comments were interpreted as such. And I'm also sorry if I misrepresented any of your comments. I'm certainly not seeking to impress anyone. I'm only here to inform of my own findings with Canyon and my knowledge from reading thousands of posts here on the forums, many of which have been from the developers themselves. I know most people don't have the time to do that.
You must not have been following the game "pretty closely" if you thought it had more than Canyon though. I refuse to believe that.
"this game will ship with roughly 1/7 the content of our previous game". <- a terrible way to advertise a game, even if it were true. Advertising is all about putting the best aspects of your product forward, not comparing it to your own past products or other people's and pointing out the parts that are seemingly worse or lacking in your own. Don't ever go into the advertising business, please.
I disagree with your statement about 1/7 the content. The environments were just one part of those games. The editor, MediaTracker, dedicated servers, etc. All those things make up the previous game. All those things are here, plus... some additional things now with ManiaScript, ManiaLib, etc etc... tons of new stuff for the community to extend the game and do all kinds of things. I don't even know what's possible yet. I can't wait to see what people make.
You're only missing a few more environments to have a more varied experience with different physics. To me, Canyon is complex enough to spend quite a long time on though. There's a lot of styles of driving here, many road surfaces to master... many kinds of tracks.
The cost is minimal for what you get.
I choose not to compare the costs of the games, but rather to look at the game I bought and ask myself whether it was worth the money I spent. And for me, it was.
There's also the matter that the development costs and amount of work put into each of the new environments is orders of magnitude greater than any single environment of the past.
I doubt you'll find many new games with the level of customization that TM offers for any price, much less a price that is much lower than the average games being released.
The Nadeo guys have to eat too, and they're still making the game very affordable for everyone. I think they should be applauded for keeping the price manageable for most people.

Here we would say... a native.

And I thank you sir.
