I think the framework is to make it seem more realistic, like an electro-magnetic accelerator. Stadium had wind turbines that accelerated the car in the turbo blocks. I thought it was cleaver and cool that they put some logic into it like that. Maybe an electro-magnetic metal grid built into the pavement with no framework would be a good balance of both that would work better.
Tesla Coils that zap the car as it goes through might be cool looking too and less invasive.

Some buildings and city objects like the Bay environment in TM1. That would be sweet for the people who love to create their videos and make them realistic.

Yeah! Those are all the blocks that I was missing in Canyon
