I'm guessing you are on WinXP. RegGetValue only exists on Vista and newer. I'll have to use XP compatible functions for the next update then (or you can upgrade from this, by now, ancient OS ;)).

How so? mpbc doesn't allow you to overwrite existing blocks. Also it does not contain any code for creating or modifying car physics. It only creates new blocks.

Others:
Remember that TM2Unlimiter and mpbc are both dependent on a specific version of ManiaPlanet. If Nadeo tells me to stop, I will, and these tools will become useless with the next (mandatory) ManiaPlanet update :)

Meanwhile, for those who can't seem to get the tool to work, here are some example files (the Easter blocks that were used for the April 1 videos):
Source files (.3ds, .dds, .xml)
Output files (.gbx, .pak)

See what works and what doesn't and let me know.

Why so many fearful peoples around here?
By reading some of posts i can think that is somewhere exists the Dark Hell's Army of "from butt growing hands" artists and scripters who are waiting for modding feature as for the Hell's Gate opening, to occupy whole earth and obligate players :teub: to play their "from butt growing mods", and peoples searched for protection in strong and fair hands of Anti-Hell Police Department !
Relax guys and girls, it is not a terrorists, it is just players want to get more from lovely game. :pil
there is so many cool mods for so many cool games....

I've copied the output files you provided into the right folders, but nothing happened.
I've also deleted the User.FidCache file, as recommended in your readme file, but no success. There are no new blocks in the editor :?

Alright... It was a stupid bug that I did fix but which didn't make it into the released version. Ironically User.FidCache contained a version of the blocks that *did* work so I didn't notice something was wrong :P.

mpbc 0.1.1 is up with the following changes:
  • It actually works now!
  • Removed "Translation files not found" message box
  • Replaced RegGetValue with XP-compatible functions (mpbc should run on WinXP now)
The Easter blocks are updated as well. Sorry for the wasted time everyone.

It depends on the way you play the game. Some players don't worry about bugs, rough random surfaces, flickering textures, and so on, but some do. The fact is, although it is a fantastic and powerful tool, tm-unlimiter enables people to build much silly/ugly/unsuitable things if they are too lazy to force themselves to build smart things, and this not an irrational fear but a feedback of experience.

With any tool, you can produce really bad things if you're not skilled/careful enough. Of course, the goal is not to prevent people to create crap maps (firstly because the right to have a shit should be in the human rights bill, secondly because people don't need any tool, powerful or not, to make it...). Call this elitist if you want, but we'll allways need to sort high and poor qualities...

Another thing is that, to build bad maps you need less effort than to build good ones, thus there will often be more bad than good maps (and it's not really to compare with mods, because mods need far much more time and energy, so the lazy people can't finish any mod... but they really can build maps, even tons of maps, and flood the servers with the drafts they make...) To allow them to make whatever they want with the editor is a (good) thing. To support bad maps to become the majority is another one (but not as good...) No need for police, just need for filtering.

But hey, maybe you noticed children drawings hardly end up in fine arts museums?!

People have already requested that maps with custom blocks would be tagged such that MX can recognize them. I'll try to include this in the next TM2Unlimiter release. Then you will have filtering and everyone can be happy ;)
