Oh, great! What was the reason for the couple minutes delay between officials in Maniaplanet, anyway? Hackers? How?

Not related to hacks.
Only the try to persuade players to practise more.
And to make the solo campaign "last longer"... because many tracks are very short... less than 2mins, except the last track on each row, which is typically multilap.

This timer has been the biggest disappointment for me in TM2.

I remember reading that this timer was implemented to prevent "rich" people with a lot of planets not to be too much advantaged over the others. As every official run has a cost, you train more and do less paid run.

But as a player, I felt it only brings frustration to the solo mode. Instead of giving 100% every run trying to accomplish your best, once you have done your official run, all the pressure you put on yourself falls down. Yes you can train during theses 5 minutes but you will not feel the stress you can have when you beat your PB at the half map checkpoint.
And if you do the perfect run during the training, it is even more frustrating. The best everyone can do on a game like that is kind of a "single shot". A perfect run that come only once every tens and tens of runs. So you can push your level over your skill limits, taking maximum risks. That's how I like the solo because there are no duration limit.

And if I want to play "at my level", doing my best but not pushing too high over my skill, then the multi is there!

This is so true man. The official run should be the one where you are 453% risky to push your time to the limit, but in TM2 with these 5 mins you almost need to safe in order to keep calm... In TMUF I was full SP (had 4,1M at my max) but I totally stopped in TM2, impossible to play with these 5 mins when you play in a 25sec map...do the ratio, it's toooooo much.

^^About the official run stuff. As someone who has continued to play solomode throughout the years I can say that I do have to hold something back during official runs. Not completely, but just enough usually to err on the side of consistency. Otherwise the official runs can be a recipe for frustration, which many have voiced over time. My mindset has always been to accept it how it is and play it for what it is, if that makes sense. I think because of that I've not ever gotten frustrated at the system.

When I've played community tracks it almost feels like cheating the system because you can simply go for broke 100% of the time. It's a tough mindset to change knowing that consistency counts for next to nothing (except for lap tracks ofc). It's similar to the difference between rounds and standard time attack. I can't say that I'm partial to either system as long as it's fair for everyone. A huge turn off for me in the brief time I played TMUF was knowing that some people would have a massive copper advantage. All in all it looks like Nadeo is giving the community what they want in this regard, which is a good thing.

I hope there would be some advanced notification if the system were to change for the current MP titles. I think each type of ladder/official-mode system represents something unique and would not like to see them mixed. Even if that would mean retiring the old solomode ladder.

The solo system is different in Trackmania Turbo. There are no skilllpoints but still a way to try hard, a lot

You will see but I think it's better to wait before answering questions about "what will be in the game?" It should be revealed on time and it's getting closer. Meanwhile, if there are thing that are less clear about what has been already said, this topic is perfect for that!

I forgot to mention this out, but Turbo has got a lot of improvements in term of sounds FXs that MP hasn't, and by that I mean brand new and not recycled ones.

Will ever its PC counterpart benefit of it in a near time ? :?:
