Does this mean the ladder will work differently than the TrackMania system? Will it be similar? If so, will you explain the TrackMania one mroe (assuming it also goes off more than just ladder points?)
It will be similar but with some key differences like
- Ladder points awarded than today when people from similar level compete, even if the global average level on the map is lower. It was remove on TM to avoid too good player to come in lower ranked match (which is also done by Champions/Pro/Amateur/Beginners servers) On Shootmania, it is less of an issue since Time Attack is not the key mode.
- We intend to have more complex functions to determine players contribution to the match. If someone capture a pole in Battle, or if he eliminates a player that was near to capture etc. The function will not be perfect since no function can really make an evaluation of a player contribution, but we believe it is better to have one than not, or the one based on number of elimination like today.
- No ladder points above 50K on the Storm title since it is too difficult to rank people between Siege, Battle, JailBreak, Time Attack etc. If people want to have a world ranking on a mode, they will need to have a title. It will enable the title creators to determine their own rules for the top ladder of the mode. Players will be able to select the servers of the title directly from the Storm browser and it will install automatically in a station if they don't have it. However, the number of stations will still be limited and they will be prompted to uninstall a title or spend planets/economical points.
- Division by 2 of the current ladder points in order to keep a ladder but let space for progression. The speed of gain of ladder points will now be inbetween the initialisation speed and the installed speed, accordingly with the top level achieve at the moment. If the init speed is 4 and the installed speed is 1, then the ladder points will be gain at 2.5 speed when top player is at 50K points. It will be the same for custom titles.
- Interladder will enable Titles to say that the level of their player is never under a percentage of other titles. For example, if a Siege title is made, maybe an Elite player with 60K points will never have less than 20K in Siege. It would be for the Siege Title maker to decide this. It could helps to initialize the ladder or to improve the reading of other player level when they arrive (even if blurred by the division by 3)
In fact, the ladder is going to really be set in place for the launch and should be more adapted to Shootmania. Happilly, it can still be quite close to Trackmania and provide a common system for all, with some adjustements. Canyon has a main mode, based on the speed you go to the end. So, it can keep the 100K point limit on the main station. In Shootmania it is less clear.
Thanks for the detailed response, Hylis!
It will take me some time to process it all, but I think this part hit what I was wondering about.

That would explain why SpeedMonger and I bounce back and forth on who is ahead. Some days I get my butt kicked worse than he does and vice versa.
Apparently he gets his kicked less than I do right now.
GG! And Happy New Year to you and the entire Nadeo staff. We appreciate all you're doing to continue making TrackMania and ShootMania the best they can be.
Dear Nadeo we want to save skills on Royal EXP, but we cannot acces script, is there a way so we can acces or re-write it, so can you provide us with it?
Its not called Exp for nothing isn't it?

Exp means "Experimental" and not "Experience". The Exp Titles are here to test the futures evolutions of the Storm gameplay.
If the studio is satisfied with the new systems, they'll include them on the Storm title, that why the script is locked for this title (same for the others Nadeo titles about the last point).
