I also notice the sound gets louder when start the race and when
you wait for the light to be green, its a bit lower, it was a bit enoying..

Some complain about custom music on the servers, is there a way to
turn of that and use maniaplanet orginal music track instead ?

I think you guys can make alot volume sliders so we can change
all sounds in the game and for me that sounds a bit to much just to set the sound,
,but i agree soundeffects is important ;)

When we talk about sound can´t you fix the volume slider to work while driving ?
as is does in stadium 1. -- Not a big issue, but i would be happy to see that change..

A tip: About the music.
Instead of have ogg files in maniaplanet
disable music in maniaplanet
start kmplayer in windows and create a playlist
and press play "simple as 1 2 3" ;) and you can adjust your music volume to your taste
or as we swedish say the perfect level ;) naa just kidding

That depends on the plugin/server admin.

That doesn't work if authors ad/force music to their tracks to help create the overall atmosphere of the track. Not the .ogg but the .mux files are there so the files can only be played with maniaplanet. (copyright tactics)
If you want to listen to your own music, just turn the ingame music off and do whatever you like. No need at all to have that sorted ingame.

Only a french company can make an ingame volumeslider that is actually a fricking equalizer and not tell anyone about it ingame (but make a rather incognito post on thier own forums and think that's enough).

I mean, if I were to give one example of why I think Shootmania isn't doing as great as it can I would give this as an example to give you an indication of the distance between the developers thinking and the rest of the world.

If the only posts you can do these days are hate ones, you should stop sadzealot.
This is just useless, off topic, and the worst is it's intentionaly aggressive and offensive.

let's rephrase it, just so it would be a kind enough question for nadeo to conisder answering to it:

why is "volume" slider isn't actually ONLY a volume slider, and why this equalizer functionality (which doesn't have much logic) isn't officially documented and made widely available (forum can't be considered official because of its unclear structure and overall messiness)?

(I'm getting really pissed that nadeo always has time to figure out how some people are "rude" and "offensive", but when they aren't, they just ignore everything)

To reply with your own words: because it has not much logic?
Why should there be a official documentation then? :P
You're asking for something you're denying yourself at the same time, very funny

You can be lucky GabrielM took the time to write this description here,
to enlighten the few people who really were interested in little sound details.
The place of this post is exactly on the right place: sticky thread in ManiaPlanet section.

You certainly don't want to have a "Sound and Music" subforum with only one post, not to make the forum even more unreadable, don't you? ;)

To be honest, I have to agree with Omnixor on this one. Lets state it like it is. ManiaPlanet is a nice idea with the different titles of different genres, but basic elements to make this game easy accessible for everyone are missing. There is no documentation for the Editor/MT short cuts, the UI is more or less a try and error experiment for new players and the title splitting is effectively reducing the available amount of players for each title. Some title, even though brilliant in the idea are simply dead because of lack of players.
To come back to the original quote

The way he says it might be disrespectful and not enjoyable but the truth in it is undeniable. I really thank GabrielM for this documentation here in the forum, but it is simply only available for forum readers that check the forum from the beginning of time and know all different threads by heart. Every new player will be frustrated by the way the volume slider works if he does not know what it does. Its simply good manners to explain something the way it works if it looks similar to a already known element. Lets say you see a cow and if you milk it you except to end up with milk. In case of the volume slider in ManiaPlanet, what would come out would be depend of the position of it. Low = cheese, middle = milk, high =curd.

:roflol:
Sorry Nadeo, but this analogy is very apt. ;)
But I agree, offensive writing like sadzealot's shouldn't be tolerated here in the forum.
Me too, I made some bug reports or questions that aren't fixed/answered until now, but I still see no reason for bad manners.

It seems a nice feature to be able to choose between the "loud mix" and "quiet mix" or something depending on your taste, but it should be for example a checkbox near the volume slider and everything would be clear.

So true!!

I dont understand why this isnt done in the first place when actually designing/creating these different sound-settings.

- its not intuitive
- Only forum readers know it
- Even after reading the forumpost its hard to test
- Why isnt it displayed in the actual settings-window (where you select audio quality etc before you open the game)
- ...

What if I want a loud-mix but with lower volume? I have to go to windows & lower sound there...
- not userfriendly at all.

These errors/time-waisting really has to go NADEO.
It was a stupid decision to make it like it is now and its your fault.

I dont think its really the biggest error of the game so yeah... Im making this post just to inform NADEO that some decisions are made without any logic and this post is more as a friendly warning towards the future.
The neverending waiting game has to stop.
