February 6, 2012: I've removed all the things I listed here. Many of the things I had listed weren't really moments that connected to racing itself, just gaming in general.
To be honest, the moment that always thrills me is when I learn a track well enough, and when the track is made good enough, that I suddenly see, with my mind's eye, these invisible lines weaving their way through the track. Outside, inside, outside... the car weaves its way through the track, coming closer and closer to the edge. Turning a fraction of a second earlier or later and the car would hit the inside corner or the outside wall. These tiny fractions of time in which the difference between a good run and a bad run rest... these are the moments that I enjoy the most in racing. I suppose it would be true in any racing game, but it's especially true in TM.
The last FPS I really truly enjoyed was Descent. The moment that the levels became clear... connecting one area to another and discovering where every mineshaft led made it an intriguing game.

not to insult TM but the best is being the last one left in search and destroy in call of duty and completing the mission. so much adrenaline.
also those red booster island tracks

FPS- I usually don't play FPS but I think I enjoy most Legions: OVERDRIVE. I had a lot of moments when I played Fallen Empire: Legions or Legions: OVERDRIVE just to admire the maps.
P.S.: I don't think Legions: OVERDRIVE is actionly a FPS but I don't care.
RPG- I like alot Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. It has a lot of great features but they don't fit with the game. I most enjoyed the special missions and the last mission.
Racing- TrackMania. Before Shift 2 Unleashed I liked most NFS and I think the best NFSs are Road Challenge (also named High Stakes), Shift and Hot Pursuit (3). I enjoyed the races and the tracks of Road Challenge, the realism of Shift and the great landscapes and races from Hot Pursuit. Now my preferred game is TrackMania (Forever) but I will never forget ESWC.

So go host a mw2 server on alteriw.net ... They have more features in there then the actual game did.Ripbox wrote:this relates to all:
100% user control..... not limited to/stipulated by the creator & publisher
My example relates to MW2
I/we dont want to be told a limit of how many player to each server.....i/we want to host each and every server, not you
100% user defined configuration I.e cheats on/off - Killcam on/off----- i think you see the point
these kind of features are the best moment of any good game in my opinion

Re: your best moments in FPS, RPG and racing games
Over the past years (since 1999) me and my friends organised a lot of lanparties for our friends. These were held on incredible spots throughout our hometown. (we even had a few in an abandoned courthouse and loads in an old cheesefactory)
Anyways, as our parties grew, so did the fame. (we even made it into an issue of RealGamer, a games magazine)
The most fun we had was with HalfLife Deathmatch. Nothing is more fun than seeing kermit chase a reloading skeleton with a big crowbar into a corner boobytrapped with tripmines.
Another fun part was sticking these tripmines onto people who were afk.
Although i can also remember us playing counterstrike beta 0.9 something. We did a marathon on that game, playing 36 hours non stop. After that we went to get something to eat. We were completely brainwashed when we were outside. (you walk outside, hear something and your instinct tells you to jump over a wall and take cover)
On the half life engine someone built a mod called bumpercars, that was probably the silliest game we ever played. Was a great game to play when we were left with a small group of players at night. The idea of the game was to bump other cars from the platform. The tricky part however was that some parts of the platform would randomly flip 180 degrees, taking anyone who was on that part with it, thus throwing them down.
And of course playing and playtesting the counterstrike maps built by ourselves and friends. (which gave us the idea to start and dedicate a website to it (http://www.lanmaniax.com)
Beside the lanparties i personally had a lot of fun with AION and Perfect world. As both have the ability of flight, it really adds to the fun of an mmo. (strike from above on unsuspecting victims for quick a pvp kill)
Totally forgot about Need for speed motorcity online beta. It had a huge shop where you could buy everything to customize your car. and all carparts were sold seperately, so you could tune your car and looks.
Doing a dragrace against a friend of mine, winning his car, stripping it and throwing all away except his wheels as they were slightly wider than the ones i used to have. We were on dialup back then, giving us a bill of around 400 euros a month
Trackmania wise i think the best memory i currently have is the huge amount of reactions on the "friendly award" protest intro i built for my duo track with Brainzzz. We called it .~zTupid n~UTs. Took me ages to build, but it was worth all the effort.
Found this youtube video showing the intro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=028I-GGAoXE

Re: your best moments in FPS, RPG and racing games
FPS:
My favorite memories in FPS are on Counter-Strike Source when I am playing in a 5v5 match and I have the most kills and am making the most precise shots and everyone is complementing you because the skill curve in this game is insane. Nothing to easy, no aim assist, I like a real challenge in FPS. I am really looking forward to Counter Strike: Global Offensive (Q1 2012)
RPG:
My favorite memories in RPG's are overcoming a hard boss finally and getting that next big loot that looks awesome and does something even cooler and everyone around you is amazed by it also haha. Diablo 3(TBA) is one I am definitely looking forward too and another would be Borderlands 2 (Q2 2012).
RACING:
Trackmania has been one of my best racing experiences, overcoming that fullspeed track or getting my time just a little bit faster, I haven't had much experience in competitions but I would like to because I know that would be awesome, its just not popular in the USA like it is everywhere else.

Re: your best moments in FPS, RPG and racing games
FPS:
I love playing Team Fortress 2. I remember my first headshot with the sniper. I killed a Heavy with a far shot. Was on the map "Dustbowl," to dominate the last checkpoint. The Heavy killed a friend of mine and was not moving, firing machine gun. HEADSHOT! Another good moment was playing the map "Sawmill", in "Capture the Flag." I was playing as a spy (with invisibility activated), and saw a sniper on the roof looking not know what. Although invisible, went to his side, took off the invisibility and killed the sniper with a stab in the back.
It makes very little time I started playing shooting games, so for now everything is new to me.
RPG:
I do not like RPGs. The only exceptions are Dragon Warrior 1 and 2 (for NES). Maybe I'll like QuestMania.
Racing games:
I love to racing games. Obviously, one of my favorite titles is TrackMania.
I sure would write hundreds of lines with only feats that I did in TrackMania.
One I remember was the week that I discovered TrackMania. I was playing the track "SkidOrDie", the TrackMania Sunrise Demo (TmSunriseDemoMag), when I finally managed to hit the jump to the bridge which lies on the sea. The Bridge on the sea is narrower than on the land, and joining with my sight (which is not at all good), it was almost impossible to do. But when I finally got ... Gold Medal!
