So actually it decreases the average playerbase per environement.
Correct, this will temporarily be the case until the majority realises they don't like the environment and go back where they came from (just like it was the case in Valley).

Sure new players will always come, but imagine being a new player to Valley and you see only two servers being filled with people at all. I've read through a handful of Steam reviews about Valley and many of them mentioned the super low activity in multiplayer. This does NOT attract any new (or even old) players.

You can be against " a new environment", but the new environement could be really awesome. So please stop saying/thinking its automatically bad.

That's not what I'm trying to say. I'm just giving Valley as an example for what could potentially happen again if the current situation doesn't change. Sure Nadeo can come up with the sickest new environment ever made, but it's going to be just another niche environment if it doesn't offer anything really new.

yeah, it's only a fear.
Or a warning to Nadeo... to make it really good, this time. ;)

I just hope that Lagoon ( if its released ) wont be a BEACH/SUNNY/SUMMER clone of TM.
Cuz then it would feel more like a DLC and not an new environement.

And then we would have the "Valley-Story" again. True dat.

Well, so far every TM2 environment was an "upgrade" of an already existing environment from the previous TM games. Desert -> Canyon, Rally -> Valley. Wouldn't surprise me if Lagoon was somewhere between Island and Coast, location-wise. At least that's how I imagine a Lagoon to look like xd
However, I didn't feel that Canyon (or any TM2 title) was just a DLC. They were an environment of its own with new physics, etc. which felt complete on its own.
Valley had (and still has) much potential left to be used. It was up to Nadeo to unleash the real power of the Valley, unfortunately the environment felt really rushed and empty which is definitely one of the reasons why it wasn't that much of a success. Guess we're being a little off-topic here though (:

So far i always thought only "yesyesyes da new envi let it come let it come" but now I slowly start to think like Riolu and TheM.
Well, I am VERY curious, I can't wait and I always get a little hype when I think of a possible new envi ( ) but now I just think a bit of the game we have so far. It is my favourite game but it can be sooo much better. And only btw, i almost only play Valley...
But at the end it is and stays Nadeos decision.

I'll react on something.
The funny thing is that exactly the same community complains that the existing ManiaPlanet games don't show enough diversity, despite the gradually enhanced possibilities with mixmapping, objects and mods.

TrackMania United fans complain about the missing "old known" environments.
TrackMania ESWC/TMNF fans want to keep their rank also with TrackMania² Stadium.
ShootMania players are still upset about the B2/B3 changes and matchmaking issues etc.

Nadeo has to continue the development, and as long as the tools are not all available or not open to allow a complete customisation, they need to release new professional titles to keep attracting players.

Many of us have shown lot of patience, and for my part, I'm still willing to show until April this year... and longer? I don't know yet :?
Can you see the jonction point here ? People want new mod, and new updates, and new stuff, and etc. People want some CHANGES !

In fact, ShootMania need radical change. And everyone agree about that, one way or another. We all feel the potential of this game, SM is a new type of FPS, but it's too kidly. And for this, nadeo have to listen community and pro player (hum too late, they're gone), so top player.

Lot of people give smart feed back, and this is just push away to wait 3 years to see the "turn".

Players will come when the game will be attractive.

Hylis wrote:Maniaplanet is a long term project and it requires some big steps to be made by the team. Power Up is an upcoming checkpoint, but it's really difficult to know when we will release it and what it will include because of the other things we are working on, with higher priority. So, there is no news and I think it's going to stay like this for some months. My goal is to provide information between the GA & the summer at the latest. And yes, the team is bigger than ever and working really well.
I guess he didnt read this thread hihih. Anyways, this seems like a really long time to me and it makes me sad.

I really hope Hylis doesn't own a dog. He doesn't understand that you have to feed it to keep it alive. Once every 6 months is not enough, even if you give him a lot of food then.
