At http://doc.maniaplanet.com/dedicated-se ... html#Chase there are two times S_NbPlayersPerTeamMax, but the last one should be S_NbPlayersPerTeamMin.

A small bug :
Seems the number of players playing is false

Tonight on the matchmaking, it was written "6 playing" and a few seconds after, 6 players were sended to a new match. Then, the matchmaking displayed "0 playing" but in reality 12 players were playing.

This afternoon I was also playing Chase and I noticed that the number displayed was false too. "0 playing" instead of "6 playing"

"Victory by forfeit" occurs when someone retires.

For sure a fun gamemode if you play with people who actually understand the rules. While being in the lobby, you should give newbies the opportunity to watch a small tutorial before being able to actually ready themselves by pressing F6. 90% of my matches so far have been interrupted by people who just raced without knowing what they are actually supposed to do.
Also an annoying thing is that people who lost connection during the transfer from lobby to server slow down the whole matchmaking process by a lot. If one player is missing, you lose about 2 minutes by selecting the map, starting one round which gets cancelled immediately due to the missing player and getting transferred back to the lobby. It would be best to extend the time to find a substitute in case one of the players has a netlost.
Retiring should also be disabled completely as I've also had a couple of rounds where one player constantly retired just after the start.
Just my three cents here.

Why not make the lobby map itself a tutorial map directly?
chase for fun there, and like with a GPS, use replays to show how to do chase in a 3 player team.
Then they would understand very quickly.

afaik 90k is always rounds mode.

but maybe the community could create an independent ladder... who knows. The technical possibilities are given.

We pushed an update on the Chase matchmaking with the following changes :

Code: Select all

### Modes

### Trackmania/ModeMatchmaking
* Wait a bit before respawning a player while he's being transferred to its match server.

### Trackmania/Chase
* Better display of what the player must do and who can cross the next checkpoint.

### Libraries

#### Lib/MatchmakingLobby
* Display the scores table in the lobby for Trackmania.
* Fix : Moved upwards the lobby panels in Trackmania to not hide the chat and the ranking.
We also updated the settings of the matchmaking servers.

The progressive matchmaking is now enabled. It means that if there's not enough people playing in matchmaking or if they are waiting for too long in the lobby a match can start in 2vs2 instead of 3vs3. If a match starts in 2vs2, more players will be able to join the match server until there's 3 players in each team.
During the matches the game won't be paused between rounds if some players are missing unless there's only 1 player remaining in a team. eg : a match start in 3vs3 and one player leaves. The match continues in 2vs3 mode and a new player will be able to join to replace the missing one.
The point above also implies that during a race with a team of 3 players, one player can give up and let his 2 teammates finish the race without him. He will be able to play agin in the next race.

A small reminder about penalties, they are global to Maniaplanet! Eg : if you play in Elite, leave a match and get a penalty, it will be applied in all lobbies, whatever the game (SM or TM) or the mode.

We are also investigating on a bug were people get sent to their match server but remain connected to the lobby at the same time. Until we can fix the bug the only solution is to kick from the lobby the players that are clearly in a match and not waiting in the lobby anymore.
