Since many years we allowed import of cars into the game, but about modifying the maps itself, we have been careful to keep the consistency of the experience for people who decided to play the game. Now, with Titles, it will be possible for players to add visual, static and collidable objects in the maps. It is another step with more opening, but keeping it somehow structured for usual players as well. For people familiar with the interface, it will be accessible through a new icon between blocs and macroblocks at the bottom of the map editor interface.
arc_ wrote:Good to see :). Not much point in continuing mpbc development then I suppose. The current release already has all the basics covered so people can use it to prepare blocks for MP2.0.

I am pretty curious whether mpbc's release actually made a difference, or whether Nadeo was planning on including custom blocks in MP2.0 all along. I guess we'll never know :lol:

Hehehe, just tonight, when reading ur post here, i suddenly observed the small letters in the bottom, clicked it, and voila ! | Space - nickname
| Daniel - real name
| 15 - age
| Vilnius - location
| space41 - login
Wow ! I never knew ! And I have to say, Daniel, or Space, or Omnixor, or whatever u prefer, (As we say in Norway; dear kids have many names) for ur age, u r a very well grown up boy already, and I wish my own sons was that mature at ur age....

That said and aside, it does not mean I always agree to ur statements.....

What is disturbing my whole picture of something in this great game to really look forward to is the simple fact that Nadeo have different view of what is important then many of us players. AND obviously, by now, most busy in developing and finishing ANOTHER game, that have nothing to do with Trackmania Canyon at all... Then, when stated here as a post;
Hylis wrote: It is true that we had planned a bloc importer, but for later
(My bold and underscore)
and;
Hylis wrote:making blocs is different and would be a later topic if we do it.
(My bold and underscore) certainly does not gives any more reason to believe it will happens anytime soon.....

Sadly enough, arc_, the great developer of some additional tools Nadeo never ever released on it`s own, to make this game any better, took Nadeos recognition for his works as a signal that his continued development of his blockmaking tool was no longer needed;

which i personally believe was a big mistake and misunderstanding of the great value of his new tool....

Taking into account Nadeos history of delay of promised upgrades, AND Hylis words above, i absolutely believe it would be room for arc_ tools for a long time to come, no offend to anyone mentioned.

Well, honestly, this is St.hans night, the brightest night of the year, and i`m a little drunk already. I`m not out partying, coz I`m here in Norway alone, and my sweetheart is in the Philippines, so what can i do ? Hehe, just finish racing another great track, and dont think im able to drive any good time anymore tonight.. So, i just write my heart out in this forum and other forums that i use to share my opinions, to the enjoyment of some and the irritations of others.... :roflol:

You make some decent points Nesrally. We've certainly had to wait longer for some things than we at first were anticipating.

Perhaps they do. Or perhaps they don't. They're the ones who have spent years developing games we love. So maybe we should have a little respect for their expertise?

They have many topics that they are working on. Their priorities seem to be centered around creating a good foundation for the future of ManiaPlanet. Much of that seems rather boring at first look because it's about creating the tools that will empower users.

But having that foundation will be very important for the future so the game can move forward in a stable and consistent way with new features and new environments.

Sorry, but I don't really believe that's true. ShootMania Storm is part of ManiaPlanet, the same as Canyon is. The improvements and changes to ManiaPlanet during the tests for ShootMania will have a deep effect on Canyon and other future TM2 environments. ShootMania may not interest you personally, perhaps because you're not into shooters, but Storm has the potential to bring a lot of new players to the community and transform how we think of the game. Everything is connected.

You know, we always thought of TrackMania as 7 racing environments (now 8). ManiaPlanet extends the TrackMania concept beyond racing and into the realm of competitive FPS and RPGs. These genres deserve to have the Mania treatment as much as the racing genre does. They have a large audience of players that will enjoy the ease in which you can create and test maps. It's something we've all begun to take for granted as TrackMania players. But to those in FPSs and RPGs it can be brand new experience. We should be excited for them, if not part of that community ourselves.

Sorry I got a little offtopic. I guess it doesn't have much to do with mpbc.
I did make a post on MX about blocks, objects, and the future of MP2.0. I could quote it here, but I'll just link it:

Whether arc_ should continue to develop mpbc, even though the Object Importer looms closely on the horizon, that's not for me to say. If he doesn't want to put further effort into something that will be obsoleted in some months time, I don't think we should push him to that. It's his choice.

We changed from TM2 to Maniaplanet. It is a long story that brings us now with Maniaplanet 2, Canyon and Storm.

With object import, I hope we will make the bridge between a far distance vision of (TM2 - 3 environments - bloc imports) that is taking time since we went back to making Maniaplanet with various environment instead of the TM2 project. I think it is quite clear today that more people will come to Maniaplanet. Maybe they will bring knowledge to make nice objects, some other stuff on dedicated servers or else. I don't know, but I know that Forever is still there, Canyon is being updated and Storm is just around the corner.

I don't want to say we are going to make things anymore when you see how repetitive I have to explain that we switched from TM2 to Maniaplanet bigger project. In fact, this is why I now say: if we do it. Probably easy to understand and hard to accept, I agree.

Edit: And I know that you would need "force mod" features. It is part of a long list of things we would like to do for players as well.
