Progressive Jumps
I really like this, just some improvement and it's perfect !

Rails vs Rockets
Just delete it ! It add 100% random fact that's horrible <3

Movement Sounds
Improve them, we can't hear anything correctly, and we can't hear bumper at all

Charged Rockets
I like it, maybe up it a bit :)

Hi,

My feedback is gonna be focused on Elite mode / e-sport oriented.

Laser vs rocket
It does not belong in e-sport! It too much random added to the game, skill isn't rewarded anymore it needs to go. What is the most disturbing about this story is, it was an option and now you can't even get rid of it.. Please at least make it an option again!

Variable jump
most of the pro players I know are against it also, it needs to go. At my level i didn't see much difference but I also can add that one of Shootmania strengh is simplicity. Why make it complicated?

New Blocks
New blocks are always welcome, I just do not understand why wooden planks code is so messed up. Sliding up->down is ok, on flat planks game behaviour becomes really messed-up. As a mapper, I just use wooden slide as rarely as I can. Special thanks to new run pads that can be places over other blocks. This is nice :).

Charged rockets
really cool feature, it's risky to use but powerful. It adds new tactics to maps! well done.

Wall jump
really cool feature, it is sometimes tricky to use, I don't know if you can make it less random.

Rocket speed
Why would you changed that? is there any reason?
rocket are firing too fast triple tap are seen too much

First of all, thank you for taking into account what the players have to say. And thanks for updating the game accordingly!

Here's what I have to say (about elite mode):

Laser vs Rocket
I don't like it. It adds a lot of randomness and often gives a second chance to a defenser that has been outplayed by the attacker.

There is no real reward for the attacker when shooting a rocket and the risk of missing it is far too high (he's vulnerable - so he's better off just trying to dodge the rockets). Plus: it removes some fluidity to the game (attacker shoots, starts looking an other place, defenser survives, attacker has to re-aim and re-shoot).

I would love to know why this mechanic was first introduced (and then kept) so we can maybe find a better alternative (or just find a way to make it work). (Suppositions: give variety to the attacker's arsenal? Add some "wow" moments to the game for spectators? Reduce the strength of spam rockets? Some important marketing guy came up with the idea and you had to include it? :) )

I am not sure adding the delay before a rocket can be shot at is the solution to this.
  • It adds a very specific rule that can be confusing for spectators and new players. (Think: how would you explain this to a new player in a simple sentence?). One of the strengths of SM is that it is very easy play and difficult to master, it should stay that way.
  • How would you add good signs and feedbacks?
  • You still have to cope with the risk vs reward issue.
Variable jump
I think it is a good idea but it is still too random and difficult to use (I had to bind jump to a mouse button so i have more control). New players won't understand why sometimes their jump heights vary.

Wall jump
This is awesome: Easy to understand and gives a lot of new opportunities to players that are willing to spend some time mastering that new feature.

Charged rockets
The idea is very good but it is not viable yet. Here's some suggestions on what can be tried out: less time to wait, have the charged rockets cost more ammo than normal rockets, have the ammo resplenish slower if you are using charged rockets, use stamina to charge rockets, etc...

Rockets
I don't mind the new rocket speed. I am not really fond of the new faster fire rate. I sometimes accidentally fire 2 instead of just one.

New blocks
Anything that unleashes the creativity of mappers is more than welcome! :D One of the big reasons is: the community will be able to chose which ones are good and which ones are bad.

Some suggestions
Things I would love to see in the future:
  • Give new opporturnities to the mappers with blocks that impact gameplay and introduce variety (a few examples: fences that let only lasers/rockets/players go through, one way fences, ...)
  • Default filters when browsing servers, we very often have EU players connecting to NA servers making everybody lag (or maybe find a way to fix the netcode so that a single player won't make everybody lag)
  • Fix the menus and UI! A few examples: Options are in four different locations and give access to different parameters, attacking player is highlighted in red even though he is in the blue team, to play I have to go through 6 different screens, the important information is difficult to get (how many life points has the attacker left? Who's still alive? ...), etc...

Please don't hesitate to contact me directly so I can go more into details!

Thanks!

Speaking of Laser vs Rockets. Long range shots are now simply impossible if the defenders are firing rockets while peeking out of hiding.

The most outrageous example is Fortress. There's a hill near the attacker's spawn, on which one can swiftly climb and be able to eliminate impudent birds (those defenders who just go straight from the spawn and jump over the pole area). Back in the day, this thing taught many players not to dash like that in defence, because those bothering to wait were getting ~100m shots for free. It exercised caution in defenders.
Well now what? You don't even have to use any movement tricks, but simply run in a straight line towards attacker aiming at you from 100 metres away. All you need to do is fire rockets during that jump. That's all. The most stupid and straightforward move from a defender is now tolerated, because rockets provide a good shield.

Remember that Fortress is a Beta 1 map, maybe we have to see with map thought with Beta 2 gameplay in mind. In that way the result could be different :)

Hi !

Beta 2 is great, in general i'm pretty happy about the few changes that Nadeo made.

Here the feedbacks about all the changes :

Laser VS Rockets : The worst idea, when I played in the Elite Exp during the beta 1 this was the worst idea in Elite mod, maybe in Storm or Royal or anything else could work and could be fun, but in Elite, this thing improve the randomness of the game which is already here.

Sound : I just can't here anything now.

Wall Jumps : Awesome feature ! I'm really waiting for the Beta 2 Maps ! Think off place some water on the roof because you have access to it really easily and it's sometimes not really fair.

Progressive Jump : I had to play a lot to be capable of jumping and moving fluently ! I don't like the progressive Jump, 2 differents binds are requiered.

In fact, please remove the Laser vs Rockets or find something to "kill" the Rockets who sometimes save a defender life !

Thanks for reading

When I came on ShootMania the first thing a TrackMania fanboy told me was: U WIL C NADEO LISTN TO THE COMUNITY IT WIL BE SO KOOOOOOOL

And now what ?
Every time we give tips, or feedbacks to improve the game what is your answer Hylis ?
I have an Idea and it's the best idea ever !
http://www.esreality.com/files/inlineim ... cerror.PNG

Your game wont improve like this.
You want your game to become a pleasure to play for casual gamers ? It's not going to be !
Now imagine a player who didnt play any FPS in his life trying to shoot on someone :
-Hitbox are fails
-Netcode is fail

One day he will finaly hit someone and then this guy will shoot a rocket at the same time.
MR.Random is just going to ALT F4 this game and uninstall.

You everytime say your beta was a succes, I don't think so a lot of player just left the game and the rest of players are just playing for the money Ubisoft is giving to a lot of event. Yes it is Ubisoft !

If you want your game to improve, don't do threads and answer to everyboy "Yes we will or do it later this is not the main thing to do" or "It's not a good Idea my ideas are the best Q_Q"

Hope the game will become better than now
PS : Game was better at gamers assembly
Everybody who was at the gamers assembly said it about the speed mouvements and game design but you didn't care

Last thing I want to link is :

Same system than ShootMania

bye

I know my english suxx

Naka, what happened between 3 and 22:00 that you suddenly raged? :P

They are listening to feedbacks.. I've been in beta's since TMU, so I know they don't do everything the community suggests to them, but so far they haven't failed as much as you suggest they will.
The beta 1 was completely boring compared to beta 2. So they've already made a huge improvement that made many players come back - me included after 1 month of not playing. I don't even have time to play, but it's fun..

Your rage sounds like you are saying if they don't listen to you you you, they are stupid.

It is still beta, and Hylis said that they are tweaking things and that he knows some things need to be fixed.
Have some patience.. And also they can't please everyone. But so far the worst problem is the sounds, which hurts gameplay. Other than that, everything else is adaptable!
