Statistically, if all our server are converted in the way they are, there are over 2000 non-tmx house made tracks to be converted. At this time i have done around 400, with an average of 2,5 min per track :1010
(off course all in done in high quality ;) )

Hello,

Sorry to open the subject again & so late... I just bought TM2 after spent years with TM1 and my servers also TM1.
I now wanna migrate a server to TM2, it works in its 'nude version' : just a Nadeo package Stadium maps (TMStadiumC.txt).
Ok that works.

NB : I use XP, and my folder "\My documents" is not on C:\ but D:\ (I use C for system, and D for datas.. maybe the problem ??). For my test I use folders "\Maps" and "\My Maps" containing 10 maps. (will have 1370 to recalculate).

Now of course I wanna transfer my maps to TM2.. had the error about non recalculated lightmaps, so I tried of course WIN+R / CMD / C:\Program Files\ManiaPlanet>ManiaPlanet.exe /computeallshadows /collections=Stadium /LmQuality=Fast

I read many topics, some ppl say to put the maps in '\My Maps', others in '\Maps' (like it's said here).
My question is : where is this bl**dy folder ?

Here
C:\Program Files\ManiaPlanet\GameData\Maps
or here
D:\Documents and Settings\MyAccount\Mes documents\ManiaPlanet\Maps

Of course I tried all combinations possible... ManiaPlanet window opens.. connect to Master Server, displays very briefly a gauge, and that's all :x

I deinstalled ManiaPlanet (one old installation in 'C:\Program Files\ManiaPlanet\' (trial version) and a fresh one in 'C:\Program Files\ManiaPlaneTM2\'').. ran CCleaner to clean the registry, renamed folders as ~old.
Clean reinstalled in 'C:\Program Files\ManiaPlanet\' ..but always the same :?

I searched for "\ManiaPlanet" folder on my both disks, copied "\Maps" and "\My Maps" folders everywhere it could be possible, but .. grrr nothing !
Is there somewhere a log file showing from where the maps are taken ?

Some ppl asked "Is it possible to encode maps elsewhere that in '\Maps'" ? I did not understood clearly if it's possible or not ?
I saw the path where is ManiaPlanet.exe is specified in the command :
"C:\Program Files\ManiaPlanet\ManiaPlanet.exe" /collections.....
Is it because before to launch that command I have to set my current directory to the one where are the maps ? I also tried.. for nothing:
1)

Code: Select all

D:\>cd d:\Documents and Settings\MyAccount\Mes documents\ManiaPlanet\Maps\My Maps
2)

Code: Select all

D:\Documents and Settings\MyAccount\Mes documents\ManiaPlanet\Maps\My Maps>"C:\Program files\ManiaPlanet\ManiaPlanet.exe" /computeallshadows /collections=Stadium /LmQuality=High
I must confess I feel stupid not succeeding to do that .. looks simple

Please tell me what error I do

Thx,

ccx.

The folder is usually ManiaPlanet\Maps\My Maps or ManiaPlanet\Maps\Downloaded

It works for me like this:

Do a backup of your maps folder, and empty the "Maps" folder, at least make sure there are no other Stadium maps there.
Now put a few of the tracks there you want to be updated.

Open cmd window.
Go to the place where ManiaPlanet.exe is located.
type

Code: Select all

maniaplanet /computeallshadows /collections=Stadium /LmQuality=High /useronly
It should run, but I have seen reports that some maps with blockmixing fail.

Thank you for helping me, T.Marc. But what you ask me to do is what I decribed in my previous message, so nothing new :(

    When you tell me :
TMarc wrote:The folder is usually ManiaPlanet\Maps\My Maps or ManiaPlanet\Maps\Downloaded
are you talking about a folder in
    * \Documents and Settings\My Account\Mes documents\ManiaPlanet\
    or
    * \Program files\ManiaPlanet\
    I tried both, unsuccessfully.

    Thank you,

    ccx.

In Documents\ManiaPlanet\Maps you can find that:

    Not the .map.gbx file, it's mine :D

    Ok Nerpson, lol !
So.. Do I have to put my maps in "\Maps" or "\Maps\My Maps" ?

I just discovered, after having deinstall again ManiaPlanet + deleted all folders named \ManiaPlanet + deleting all key "ManiaPlanet" in the registry.. that I have also an other ManiaPlanet installed in "C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\ManiaPlanet_TMStadium" (I bought the game via Steam).
The game works fine (re-created all missing folders previously deleted).. but the ManiaPlanet within steam folder don't launch the game, but wanna install Storm :( (ManiaPlanetLauncher too). I can play it through the entry in Start/Programs, but am not able to launch it directly or via the MsDos cmd :(

Maybe the shadow calculator search the maps to encode in Steam folder ?

    Do I have to install an other version in \Program files\ManiaPlanet, as the only ManiaPlanet.exe doesn't look to work as I'd like - which version : ManiaplanetTMStadiumSetup.exe (660Mb) or ManiaplanetMinimalSetup.exe (110Mb) ?
Or there is some settings to fix in Steam ? (That I really don't know).

    Many thx for help,

    ccx

This is right, the commandline works fine with the Steamless version.
Never tried with the Steam version, but it should work similarly.
Did someone use it already? :?

@steeffeen, I also had many issues with custom blocks. Apparently still not working :|
Do we need a extra report for that? :?
