Yes, you brake to initiate slides, although it's easier than in Stadium and not as deep I think. It doesn't matter very much if you hold the brakes for a short or a long time, I just do it short out of habit, except when it's too difficult, then you can just brake for a bit longer to start the slide without much of a problem. This means it's also okay to start slides in S-turns or when you're driving almost straight, if you would want that.

If you press brake for a split seconds you will actually only break (while driving straight to initiate a drift)
Pressing for a tiny bit longer initiates a breaking which you can turn into a drift

If you're driving straight you have to hold brake until you're no longer driving straight, I guess. You can't drift in a straight line, that's called braking

I saw ManiaLive / MLEPP running on a server. Is the dedicated server and ManiaScript also part of the beta?
