How I did it? You have to use two files, the DetailsDiffuse.dds file (for the color change) and the DetailsIllum.dds file (for the glow). What you're looking for is the semi-thin silver strip that's in between the trunk and the chassis (on the Diffuse file). It is, by default, the same gray as the rest of the metal around the car. Originally, I thought it was just a strip above the trunk, but when I recolored it, it recolored all the seams, so I decided to go with it. :P Here's the steps I use in GIMP (If you have Photoshop it might be a bit different).

1) Put a box around the strip (as precisely as possible)
2) Fill that box with the "Multiply" interpolation (so it keeps the shading it was previously)
3) Open the DetailsIllum.dds file.
4) Copy the DetailsDiffuse.dds file as a new layer onto the DetailsIllum.dds file.
5) Cut out whatever changes you made from the diffuse file that you'd like to make glow in the illum file. In this case, that rectangle.
6) Go to your illum layer and paste it in. I do it this way so that it lines up exactly with the diffuse file. The two are copies of each other, and so if they don't line up, your glows won't, either. (If anybody knows a quicker way of doing this, lemme know.
7) Edit the alpha channel to make it glow. So, with the box still selected, go into the alpha and make it gray. The darker, the more it glows.
8) Delete the un-needed extra diffuse layer from your illum file, save them, move them into your skin file of choice, and you're good to go :D

Any questions? Ask away, and I'll be happy to help.
I got a question about this. So, I've cut and pasted the grey strip from the Diffuse file onto the Illum file and lined it up. It sits there as a seperate layer on top of Illum.

Now, do I set this grey square cutout from Diffuse as multiply? Cause it turns black. Also, does it matter if I keep viewing every channel (R, G, B and Alpha?).

Lastly, how do I 'make' an Alpha channel grey?

Yeah--you need to have all the channels activated. And when you merge, don't merge "multiply", because as you can see, it will turn it black. Merge "normal" As for your alpha channel, if you're working in GIMP, you need to make a layer mask with the condition: "Transfer Layer's Alpha Channel", and then copy/paste your strip -again- into the alpha channel, that is, if you want it to bloom. If you just want it to glow, you can leave it as it is. Naturally, the color of the strip in both your detailsdiffuse and the detailsillum will determine the color and glow of your car in-game.

Here's my personal Canyon car, Ultimate Justice:

To change the taillight color, I followed the steps in this tutorial, except I used DXTBmp to separate out the alpha channels (as BMP files) from the DDS files. I did that because my preferred advanced image editor, Paint Shop Pro 8, wouldn't load the alpha channels in the DDS files properly.

After exporting the DDS files as alpha-less BMP files, I edited them using the hue brush. Then, I recombined the alpha BMP files and alpha-less BMP files into DDS DXT5 files.

- Subtle Changes to the Main Headlights to allow a sorta 'Xenon' style glow.
- Lower Headlights have been Replaced with 10 LED's with the same 'Xenon' style glow.
- Tail Lights have been modified.
- Pirelli Tyres
- Carbon Fibre Hood & Spoiler
- A few other things that are hard to see in these pictures.

I love some of the skins on here... so much innovation and imagination :D

Simply nuts!!!

Neon underglow, teinted windows, colored lights. Wish I could do all that stuff... Guess I'll just stick to making stickers in PS lol -_-
