I tried for long time now to understand. I asked several times for a developer to explain. They ignore it.

instead of judging based on a obviously unfinished product
They are allready selling their game. I payed money for it. I expect the product I payed money for to be at least halfway done... Isnt that normal ?
TMarc wrote:So the question for multiple or cross environment servers is not be only a matter for TM², but for the whole ManiaPlanet system!
I said that all the time, It is a BASIC function of the entire maniaplanet idea. That's why it is even more troublesome that they have not thought about it yet !! I have said that at least 10 times in this thread allready...
TMarc wrote:If you don't care of it, then you have to wait some more time anyways,
and there is absolutely nothing you can do here else than to keep calm and be patient.
Yeah, that's one of my main complaints, that we can do nothing. Other companies interact with hteir community. SPecialy in games that are as community-driven as TM. Here we get no response...

Hylis talked about multi-environment servers several times in this forum, and he posted here just recently when the open beta of sm started. I also linked to and/or quoted his posts about multi-environment servers in your topic. For now, there's not even multiple TM2 environments available. It's not too early to express our concern/curiosity about what is to come and express how much multi-environment servers mean to us... but I'd say it's way too soon to start complaining about something that doesn't even make sense to have right now.
Isnt it the point of a beta to change things before release ? I dont want them to start thinking about multi envi servers AFTER releasing valley and stad. It has to come WITH the release of valley and stad. So we have to make noise BEFORE the release...

ANd yes, maybe true that Hylis talked about it before. I just dont like what he said.
zarexz wrote:You could also think; If they can port stadium to TM² they sure can with the 6 other envis. Problem is time/manpower on the Nadeo side and our impatience :D
Sure they could,. they could do many things. I just dont wanna wait 10 years till we eventualy have a complete game.

To join a friend who is playing to ShootMania while you're playing on TrackMania yes, that the servers can run both environment at the same time and switch from a TrackMania map to a ShootMania i don't think so (yet for the moment).

I really think you should rethink this... ;)
As far as my experience goes, NADEO is the company when it comes to interacting with their community.
If you look at bigger (or other ?) gamedevelopers, you'll see that the interaction with the community far less is then here.

Sorry to quote an old post...
eyebo wrote:But one thing that you can't really deny. In TMUF many players have preferred single environment servers. Over the years I've seen many of the top servers be "Island only" or "Coast only", etc. And obviously the Nations servers were "Stadium only".

There seems to be a fairly large group of people who prefer environments being separated. I don't know if it's because they can focus on what they like best, or simply enjoy a more consistent experience. But the past holds undeniable truth that Nadeo is probably heading in the right direction with this idea of one environment per title.

I guess only time will tell if it was the right decision.
I'm not sure at all that most of players prefer environments to be separated. It's a lot of a fashion: in 2008-2009 there were a lot of island servers, of which lots vanished and now coast servers dominate... The only kind that constantly performed a good attendance all over the years are the multi-environment ones, in united.

Don't misunderstand me: i'm not against single environment servers and i even attend them sometimes. Of course people who want single-environment servers should be allowed to build them. But the same applies for multi-environments servers. And the fact one kind of server lives doesn't prevent the other to live besides. Every way of gaming should remain possible, people should still be free to create all types of servers. No matter if environments are sold separately (which doesn't make a problem to me) or as a bundle, we should be able to play them alltogether as long as we bought them all.

I'm quite disappointed to see this legitimate wish being neglected or even denied, and i wonder what feelings / thoughts might legitimate this denial, considering multi-environments servers harm nobody. In the name of what should we, multi-environment players, be kicked out of the community???...
