Oh

In that case...
Funny thing is, I play online so rarely anymore, I don't really get to see the stars much. And mostly when I'm online, it's in Canyon. And I don't think you can see them on Canyon servers yet anyway. At least not on the ones I've been on.
I'd say... to anyone who has some maniastars... or even those who don't... to make sure they go and
vote on their playerpage for some people. Pay it forward!

The star icons on the player page have a 1 pixel border at the top ^_^
Why not add a number on the player page btw? 1/2/3 stars doesn't give me any clue as to how many people voted for me, which is what I'm a lot more interested in.

Seriously, there should only be 'a' star for a number of people that have voted for you.
then it color changes when it reaches a certain number, ie, o/r/g/b/purple, max 5 votes
each or in increments of X2.. up to 50 people, and this should be allowed to happen in-game.
And other stars can be awarded how long been playing the game, 1/6 months, 1/2 years.
A globe star for being registered in a clan,
A gold star for being a Maniaplanet or a TMX Moderator,
And so on, just a few suggestions to lighten things up..

I though of a "star system" like this. But I think that if people vote for you, because you are a TMX Moderator, in a clan or here since long time, it can help say your status better than some specific areas. It is a link and evaluation between players, not a system and players. I know it is not perfect, but countries of the world are ruled by this: 1 people, 1 vote ^_^

Hello there, I mentioned this, because it will allow an awareness formula to help give/aid the recognition for the increased commitment a gamer dedicates, the more they are awarded. Yet the stars disappear eventually for inactivity.. or put on hold.. So those of seniority and involvement are an encouragement asset to move on up, to help us bring an motivational togetherness.. It helps with the role play, ie mentor-ship involved.
1 vote per person yes, I agree, vote in-game for the gamers they like playing with.. so the star value increases, like kudos points, or karma incentives, yet in my words, a good word, a vote from a player, saying your liked.

Similar to a few other things mentioned to promote activity, in another post.. please have a look.

Ps.. another star, I would hope for an team environment.. is the number of hits you gave to opposing player for fraging your team member, yet I'm not quite sure how this would be implemented... team worthiness?
