No it's not a bug, it's just a old titlepack i have downloaded during the beta and i don't have redownloaded this title yet so it display this blue picture with clouds.
As i said, it's just only my opinion and not really an opinion, it's just my taste (I don't know how we can say "Gout" in english). Like others people, i want that Nadeo hear me when i find something wrong but if i'm the only one to hate this, this is my problem so Nadeo don't have to change this interface. I think i have the right to explain my opinion and my tastes, i'm just disappointed by this new design. that's it :/

This I know, you didn't write in your pic anywaysTheBigMiike wrote:No it's not a bug, it's just a old titlepack i have downloaded during the beta and i don't have redownloaded this title yet so it display this blue picture with clouds.

You do not need to defend, since it's all valid opinion, and also some good point.TheBigMiike wrote:As i said, it's just only my opinion and not really an opinion, it's just my taste (I don't know how we can say "Gout" in english). taste is correct, btw.

In the first pic, the above bar and the bottom bar ("two different colors") reflect the same on the menu when you enter the game.
In the second pic, I agree with you that it is a bit mismatching, but certainly still in work.

Changing a few images and a few colors doesn't make the global design better so it's indeed not efficient. It's not a complain, it's a fact.TMarc wrote:... unless no one complains anymorenovationx wrote:They are changing designs 27x#notefficient

Where do you think I complained about the fact hidden in a complain ?The_Big_Boo wrote:Changing a few images and a few colors doesn't make the global design better so it's indeed not efficient. It's not a complain, it's a fact.

I did not say anything against it is not efficient.
Of course it is not at all "efficient" regarding gameplay, but apparently they're still trying to find a compromise between the actual design and a complete rework some believe to be absolutely necessary.
A complete redesign would take much more effort... and for what? for a somehow little bit better presentation?
That would certainly be much less "efficient"

Luckily its not us who have to decide, we can give remarks and wishes though...

I admit that with every update the design is getting better & better.
Hylis always talks about "the long term" so why dont they have a professional designer design MP4 and with every update they work on the design until the TRUE planned design is finished.
What they are doing now is not efficient at all. Always mini-tweaks based on the old ( & sorry , ugly) design. This design has no future. They need to invest some time/money in a new design & do it professionally.
Now before NADEO gets mad, they already know I think the design is important so its no surprize that im complaining ^^. I also like all other parts of the update & its really nice to see them working hard.
I dont think they'll redesign everything really soon, so Im really hoping that they , at least, use this blue design EVERYWHERE. That would be a good start

The neverending waiting game has to stop.

A consistent design is imo quite important yea. Especially the in-title serverbrowser just doesn't fit with anything at all, it never really did.
Even the legacy browser looks better. The only thing the legacy browser lacks is width in my opinion (and maybe some more suitable mode filtering), I've never understood why a completely new one was needed
.
However, the UI is slowly getting there, after a dozen of scrapped interfaces. Consistency is just something which really really lacks.

Re: Maniaplanet 3.1 RC2 changelog (Released!)
Long term, with many evolution, is our way to do and it's totally different to design something, by deciding how it should be. For example, here, it was better to have the input settings in the system, and we know it since a long time, but we did not had it before because of priorities. So, it was less important to work on the design of it so far. But the interface technology used for it at the moment is still the older one, because of priorities, and so this is still useless to spend too much time on making it even better since the future is more about using a new tool that is being done at the moment. If we had unlimited amount of time to think and to work before releasing a first version, this first version would be with a solid design, but I have seen much less efficient development that were working too much on the first version, without going toward players to really test & update.
Consistency in an ever evolving environment can be a loss of agility, time and ability to evolve. Maybe MP4 will be much more consistent if the game operating system would be stabilized a maximum before. I also like the legacy browser approach of country directories, for the nations-fun-spirit of it, but the technology used for the in-title is more agile to evolve. So, once we have a greater formula, it will be easier to design the best of both worlds. Just yesterday we decided to change the information displayed, to add a beginner one and to change a little the design to make it a little better. With the legacy one, we don't have this ability to update.

why are volume sliders behind a separate button now? I totally don't like the change
1. more clicks needed; 2. to hide sliders, you HAVE to click on the "sound" button (clicking anywhere doesn't work); 3. you can't drive WHILE changing the volume (you could in TMF).

I can totally understand that. Suddenly it all makes sense, why there are so few changes towards a proper design.Hylis wrote:Consistency in an ever evolving environment can be a loss of agility, time and ability to evolve. So currently it's just about getting MP to work properly and fluently. The main thing is that it works. Reasonable

Omonixor It's a first step toward the ability to add more sound settings one day, and that lacks the time to make the idea to close the window directly when you click out of it at the moment, as well as improving the input scheme while manipulating it. On a positive side, the bar is less loaded with elements and can help to reduce the quantity of interfaces visible at the same time. It's often a question of "level of expertise" But the saved place may be used one day to install your own "system bar plugin or shortcuts" or not. It's another illustration of "building" more than to simply designing once and for all an interface. Among the sound options we would like to add, there is to split the FX, the player and music sounds, to enable to bypass the "efficiancy short term driven" decision to make the shift of balance inside the very same sound volume slide bar. In addition, the shortcut to cut/put the sound from the keyboards are more and more here and reduce the first use of it, even if some other re remaining. The loss of some input is for me the priority, among thousands of others ^_^
