Trackmania 2 stadium wont be free?

Re: Trackmania 2 stadium wont be free?
Hopefully the additional cost for TM2 Stadium is being used to provide better support for TM2Stadium eSports and for better advertising in North America, similar to what's been done for Shootmania.
Re: Trackmania 2 stadium wont be free?
Well, I'm actually not interested in any of the ManiaPlanet stuff that comes with TM2, so far I haven't seen any useful (for me) features that weren't already TMNF or maybe even TMN ESWC (except the blocks). A better solo campaign is cool and all but when do I ever play it?
And it's made the interface worse (as tested by Clem's mother). But I'm still happy to pay 10 euros because they managed to release it without making the gameplay worse. I guess Canyon just lowered my standards
And it's nice that it might bring some more players or more community activity.

But all the information to make that decision himself or yourself or anyone elses self is there. You can play the open beta and see for yourself. It's been posted what's new between the old version and the new - and you can see for yourself in the beta. It's been posted what is likely to be different between the free and full versions of the new version once the beta ends.rat_in_car wrote:His question was - is it worth to pay 10 euros for Stadium, so we should focus on that problem. Answers like "don't pay if you don't want to" is not an aswer at all. This does not answer the question. It's distraction, change subject and simply lack of arguments.
So surely it does very much boil down to 'is what is new worth buying for the asking price' in your opinion?

Would be great, but in an interview with Fragster.de, Hylis said this:G2Wolf wrote:Hopefully the additional cost for TM2 Stadium is being used to provide better support for TM2Stadium eSports and for better advertising in North America, similar to what's been done for Shootmania.
To me, this says they won't support it much when it comes to esports, which I think is really unfortunate. In this new installment, will there be big help from Ubisoft and Nadeo to ease it into eSports? Will it be possible for Nadeo to create an event or support a tournament organized by the community, such as a 24-hour race?
Hylis: There is the support side and the communication side ... Sometimes they are mixed. We do support a lot of things with the tools we provide, which allow those who organize competitions to support many players and spectators. The recent addition of competition in the Main Menu is a good example, I think. We'll work on supporting the ManiaPlanet competition ecosystem to give players a chance to have competitions in their preferred venue.
Yeah definitely agree with this. A big reason why Nations became such a good esport (besides it being an awesome game) was that it was very accessible to compete in it. If TM² wants take over from Nations, then I think these modes should be free. Otherwise we may see a split where a lot of people continue playing TMNF instead, which would not be optimal at all.Zooz wrote:It also doesn't make any sense to me that the free mode is time attack, not rounds! I don't even know what to say about it, except that for esports one would really want rounds or cup to be a free mode...

Symbolic, you said? So, what this symbolizes? Why it must be "symbolic"? Symbolic may be gesture or logo, but not 10 euros that symbolize only what it is - money.Pedal wrote:I would also like to mention the Trackmania/Nadeo community. I feel by buying the game(s) for a symbolic amount (yes, i consider €10 a "symbolic" amount, where i live you can hardly get a large beer for this amount) i am contributing to also keeping the community alive, and that's well worth it as i see it.
Kamyl, and other people who do not agree with you guys (incuding myself) are part of TM community too. I hope we don't must buy stadium for priviledge of being part of TM community? We have United (and other parts of game) loong time, so we deserve a little respect I hope? Thank you.
Re: Trackmania 2 stadium wont be free?
Well, it was your previous quote but it is more interesting than the last...
They could've made it free for those who bought both TMU (the stadium environment contents) and Storm (the engine), considering they already bought almost all the content (there is still a solo campaign and some other things)... But then they would've need to rely on those who never bought anything and sticked on the free versions... I think Nadeo didn't trust in them to buy the game. We can understand.
I never play stadium-only servers and i never play stadium for its own, because among the 8 environments of TM it's the one i like the least (after 10 minutes i want to move on another environment). Considering that, there is no point for me to get stadium at the moment, whatever its price is. I'll sure buy it when the multi-environment servers are available, but until them probably not. I mean, i decided the content that would make this title worth for me, and i'll buy it when it is done. It doesn't mean stadium is objectively not worth its 10 euros. If Nadeo made the same treatment for rally, i sure would spend 10 euros today, because i love that gameplay and i'm able to play it 2 hours long without being bored!
You might not see the interest of TM2 Stadium because you are not interested in its features. Right. But it doesn't mean it objectively isn't worth its price.
Last but not least, although it seems unfair to buy something we already bought, we as regular players consume a significant amount of daily resources (servers, and so on). And we play for years. If you calculate the hourly cost of Trackmania for you, you'll realize it is drammaticly low, whether or not you pay those 10 more euros. Come on, it's a sixth of a console game that will bore you after 3 days, and it's roughly the price of a movie at the cinema...
That's why there shouldn't be any free version of stadium at all. The lower the number of players that buy is, the higher the price is... Had they forgotten that useless free version and made everybody pay, the cost would've been 2 euros, and then the game would've been definitely worth its price.rat_in_car wrote:You guys still focus on "hard work" of Nadeo/Ubi etc. I don't really care they work hard or not. I don't pay them for hard working, I pay for a game. And I don't play free version of game but United And Canyon and think they're worth their prices. But stadium is not. I don't like it, I don't buy it but still I have right to write my opinion.

With symbolic in this term i mean, and i mean no disrespect to anybody saying this, is that €10 is a very low amount, it's a "symbolic" amount. For me it is not worth arguing over, i'd rather spend my time doing my job earning money so i can buy "symbolic" things

You, as I and many others, are all part of the TM Community. You are intitled to your opinion, so are others including myself. Respect on the other hand is nothing that is simply "given" to you, respect is something one need to earn. Respect is also, once shown, most often returned........

You're talking about completely different meaning of "respect". I don't want your respect me as a preson - I don't care. I want to respect fact, that we can have different point of view. So we deserves respect about our different opinions (which are not worse than yours).
And about "symbolic" - I really don't like when people overuse some expressions without thinking. Some things can be "symbolic", some other don't. That's all.

Agreed that we dissagre on the facts and respect each others different opinions and that the Word "symbolic" can have different meaning and use in different countries.rat_in_car wrote:You're talking about completely different meaning of "respect". No, it's the same meaning and the same use (otherwise I would not know what you're writing), but mostly is overuse without sense. It starts to be replacement for "small" even though it means something else. It's not a shame that don't know everything. I was using "symbolic" the same way as you, but someone smarter than me explain me that I'm wrong. :)
