Make TMO, TMS, TMU, and TM2S for the $1 minimum. Then make TM2C and SMS as the $6 BTA (beat the average to unlock). Just leave Valley out, I kind of feel that may be too much.
The one caveat being that Steam keys may need to be made for TMO and TMS.
That's not really an optimistic view on how much they'd make. That's more like a mid to low-tier amount. Humble Bundle is so popular their branding alone just about gaurantees this amount. I personally buy just about everything they do each week and regular bundle.
Compare that to the 10,000 copies that Valley sold at $20 each in 3 months. Just about garaunteed to make 5 times as much in a week. And talk about an influx of new players, wow. Would have somewhere in the neigborhood of 250,000 to 400,000 new players logging into Maniaplanet for TM2S and SMS.
Seems like a no-brainer to me.
10000% agreed.

Well...
My thoughts: TM2 is a game with a great Solomode, and therefore does not depend on having servers with 100s of players at the same time, this only leads to lags imao

Also, the racing game market isn´t as big as the one for other games. A lot of people just "don´t want to play racing games". And TM2 is - still, in my opinion - very cheap for its raphics/awesomeness compared to other products on that market!

It's true... racing is personally one of my favourite genres, but apart from TM1 and TM2 I only own one other racing game (well two others, but one of them's from before TM existed. And it's crappy. I just keep it installed because it has a great OST). And the reason is that with TM2 (I barely play even United anymore because I like Canyon and Valley so much) I don't need any other racing games. I think when people are saying that it's a good indication of the quality of a title.
I would love to get my friends involved in TM but... I already did, almost ten years ago.

Ummm... we have a few billion maps? 0.o

Already only the *-exchange sites together are listing 832965 tracks at the moment:
http://tm.mania-exchange.com/tracksearch : 46.144
http://united.tm-exchange.com/?action=tracksearch: 194.470
http://tmnforever.tm-exchange.com/?action=tracksearch: 391.310
http://nations.tm-exchange.com/main.asp ... racksearch: 141.384
http://sunrise.tm-exchange.com/main.asp ... racksearch: 34.129
http://original.tm-exchange.com/main.as ... racksearch: 25.528
If you add the thousands of tracks everyone has created but not uploaded,
and the tracks on other sites, we easily have 1 million tracks.
A billion is perhaps a bit to optimistic

I've personally created over 500 tracks (most around 3-5 minutes with media tracker intros and outros) but have only ever uploaded one and it wasn't even a "real" track.

Like I said in other posts. I think some sort of free to play model would attract way more players, thats something that makes the universe of TM alive. That is in my opinion very important for the franchise.
However the propblem of free to play is how to get your money? I bet that there are very modern formula's to make good money out of free to play. For example let people pay for the editor or for block-packs in the editor, cars, probs, etc. etc.
Then if you just have one populair environment (also like I said before) with a more wacky aproach (like TM should be)
then you can build further on this one environment and expand it with for example block-packs etc. etc.
I think keeping it in one complete structure and build and expand this one environment you also don't split the community like what happend now.
I think the majority won't pay 20 euro's for an environment that is not alive enough, doesn't has enough blocks, etc.etc.
I bet it the way descibed above TM would be way more populair, but offcourse, thats my opinion, and I'm just a nobody.

I completely agree with every lettre you just wrote. Have rep, xp , gold & maniaplanets.+1!
