I understand... And actually, i have no interest to support the second-hand market actors, since i don't act there.
But it remains true that the advantage of the DRM on starforce is that, rather than a more efficient or fair protection against the piracy (from the publisher's point of view).
Hylis wrote:One model could be that you can be refund of a game you have not played (if you finish 10%, then you can be refund 90% of the game)... and I would maybe define 100% to be around 5 to 10 hours of play (can be define by the game maker and told to the user before he buys the game)
The reasoning is okay, but the figures are insane ^^
How many players have enough money to spend 60 to 100 euros each 5-10 hours of gaming ? In such a reasoning, you have to consider to downsize the market, and to target on faboulously rich customers only. For instance, if i had to spend 60 euros each time i want to play 10 hours, i think i would stop video gaming (or play only free games like TMN... not the most profitable for you

).
Maybe piracy and second-hand market are both the reason and the consequence of high prices of video games (and their often short lifetime, except the TM series)...
I feel there is hypocrisy from both sides : from the video-games industry when it acts like if every customer could spend 200 euros/month to play video games, and from customers when they ask for lots of games free or at a discount price. Of course, perfect fairness seems hard to find in such matters...
We are a bit harsh, maybe because we can hardly trust that Ubisoft is a poor company at the limit of the banckruptcy. It could have been different if Nadeo kept its independance. ^^

I think that it is up to each company to make it's own decisions, to clearly inform the users and then the user is quite free to accept or not the conditions
True.
And as a user I say : having to connect to internet to play the solo part is not acceptable. No will buy.
And please, no steam !

I have not stated that you had to sell you back your game. But since full price games can last that average time, I would not see why to punish so much games with lasting appeal more than short ones. And by the way, I suggested that each game could define it's own time, making it clear what the seller thinks of the lasting appeal of it's game ^_^
Look at a movie, if you watch it only 10%, it makes 10 minutes

Yes !

I'm too shy to escape the cinema while the movie is running.
And i if i did, i wouldn't get my money back. Hm, cinemas are even more evil than DRM !

I dont understand why you use a % example for a resale.... this make no seance to me
But what my point was if i want to give up gaming or sell old games to raise cash for a new game i.eTM2 -TM3 how can i raise the cash from selling a DRM'd game? i can not or i would have to sell the DRM account with all game if this is possible...... i would not do this so where is my option? do i steal thing to raise the cash? (get a job yes i know)
Ok lets put it this way too! if i buy a real car do i not have the rights to sell it to another person when i change to a new car or give up driving? or must i keep this old car in my possession because it is tied to my name and address???
If i buy something i want to be able to sell it if i am bored of it or in need of cash, i dont want to buy something and not be able to sell or trade it when i have no use or need of it or make a sale if i am desperate for cash
Just remember that the second hand market is just a way to bypass high prices and make loss of sales, it is classed as recycling..... and gives the lass fortunate the opportunity to have something the otherwise wouldn't be able to afford

Oh, yeah, and it would be nice to be able to install the game without internet connexion.
Got stuck one with steam. I reinstalled the computer before leaving to Denmark, I though about installing and updating TM, link the account and all, but forgot steam. Even though I had Half Life on CD-rom,and wanted to play only solo, i could not. Had to wait for TDC to install adsl, that took some time.
That kind of situation is annoying...

I think its the kind of game would be cool in a box

personally, i dont care about reselling games. my only (and big) problem with the ubisoft drm is that ugly you-need-to-be-online-in-100%-of-the-time-thingy.
why in hell would a game developer like nadeo, who is (or was?

) famous for being community-friendly take away features like LAN mode for LAN parties and force the players to be online the whole time playing, even in solo mode? not everyones internet is that stable.
is this what the community wants? guess not :/
this is the only point in the ubi drm which is such a no-go for me that i wont buy any game with it. if it will be implemented in tm2, sm or qm; well thats that. only sad for me because i had lots of fun from your awesome little independent game

thy anyway for the time with tm1.

Let's hope it doesn't come to that Pansen.
