Hopefully the news is an open beta for people who purchased United. The more people with the beta, the more tracks and other content will be ready for release and more bugs will be fixed at release.

From the videos I have seen (I don't have access to the beta), I have yet to see a single Canadian playing.

Open Beta = nonexistent
Oben Beta for people who purchased United = Over 9 million players a nonexistent Beta.

Please, please think at least twice before even mentioning an open beta

9 mil players for United? I don't think so. The 9 mil on the homepage includes Nation players (and Nation being free, they are a lot more Nation players than United).

That said, even if it was opened to United players, not all of them check announcements on the forums. There would in all probability be a little less than 8,000 players who would answer the call. It would be a great way to load test the infrastructure behind ManiaPlanet before release.

No open beta and definitely not with this many people. Ever watched the first part of the interview with Hylis on ManiaNews? He says that if there are many people in the beta it kills the beta. I provided the video with English subtitles so you better take a look.

At one point or another, the infrastructure behind ManiaPlanet will have to be load tested before release. From what I gather, the game right now is relatively bug free. What's left to test before release is ManiaPlanet.

There is no way you can do that with a limited amount of players.

The whole point of a beta in a software development perspective is to test a feature complete build before release. If you do not load test your network infrastructure, you'll end up with a disaster in your hands at release day.

Vaut mieux prévenir que guérir. Du moins, c'est ce que l'on dit au Québec.

The game is FULL of bugs.
In the Beta area in the areas where each topic is a bug we have 999 topics! (I counted) Ok, let's take 20% off for potential duplicates, now there still are 799,2 topics, that means 799,2 bugs! 799,2 bugs is relatively bug free.
