Yeah, definitely...and while I'll get a steam account (I guess) if that's the only way the game's available...like I said earlier, I'm a big geek and I like to show off my boxes like books... :-P And so I want a shiny new TM2 box to sit next to the rest of all my TM-boxes.

So you have to hold it over the kettle like an envelope to open it?

I will have this on steam because i am lazy, but i will of course buy a disk copy too, because ... well... maybe not depending on server account limits. ;) (allthough i do like giving nadeo money apparently) ...maybe they should setup a donate button to save the disks? ^^

Dear Hylis, I have paid 59 euros for Trackmania United. I am a track-making enthusiast (100+ tracks published on TMX), and I often build tracks while I am with my family at our weekend cottage with no internet connection.

I am also a Steam user, with over 60 computer games bought/registered through Steam.

Steam offers OFFLINE MODE. I am not exactly sure how it works, but basically, my understanding is that as long as I log on to Steam once in a while (like once every 14 days or so), I can then launch my games even without internet connection. Which is great, as I love to play single player, and there's no reason whatsoever to require me to be online to play Half-Life 2, F.E.A.R., Trine, Defense Grid or Torchlight.

I don't care that Trackmania, Shootmania and Questmania are MAINLY multiplayer. At least TM does have a singleplayer capabilities, and it will make me very dissatisfied if you insist that I have to be connected via high-speed, broadband internet connection in order to have a quick race against my own best time.

On related note, I am sick of producers claiming that they HAVE TO fight piracy. What they actually have to do is make it rewarding for people to purchase the game. You must have seen the mocking picture of the difference between purchased movie DVD, and a DVD-rip downloaded from internet, but in a nutshell, that picture shows that if you BUY, you are forced to watch long, unskippable commercials, read FBI warnings and so on, while if you go the "RIP" path, you download and then you watch, with no annoying bullshit around the movie.

IF the box with Trackmania 2 contains something tangible, something that will make me happy, like a t-shirt with TM2 logo, or a car model exclusive to TM2, then that's the reward that pirates will not have. But if a pirate can play while offline, and I as a paying customer can NOT, then you are actually punishing me for being a legitimate customer. You do that ONCE, and you've lost me forever.

Thank you for your time, and for the thousands of fantastic hours that you've given me through TM.

I've never realy understoot the whole idea of DRM

the only thing it does is giving ,some one that buy the game, a hard time
with, it being:
-the constant need for a cd/dvd
-(and/or) the need for internet connection all time U want to play

Ok, i understand the basic idea in the past was nice
but we have enough info atm that it realy doesn't work

so now i think Ubi only adds DRM intentionally:

if u make it hard to normaly play a pc game people will think,

"BAH PC-gamesI'm going to buy a ps3 (or something else),
So that i can play my game immediately"

so i hope that nadeo don't destroy tm with this whole DRM thing,

DRM didn't work, doesn't work and will never work

GreetZ, sky :D

Sorry for the bad english but i'm still learning it, so maybe the explanation doesn't makes sence

I posted several pages back about shops no longer selling PC games due to DRM, i also stated that supermarkets were about the only place left selling them........ well wouldn't you know it, supermarkets have now stopped stocking them!!! so where the F***K will i be able to get a hard copy of any PC game now! let a lone a hard copy of TM2!

Thanks UBISOFT and others..... you succeeded in killing off the PC gaming market!!!

Looks like ill have to waste money on crappy consoles now for my gaming entertainment!! oh well at least i can always mod my console and never have to buy a single genuine disc ever!!

and that's the truth!! i did it with my dreamcast, DS,PSP and xbox and ill do it with future consoles

Boycott consoles to save PC's!

No O_o. You can install games to the hard drive. Not to mention the downloadable games that have no physical disc.
