Looks like Nadeo was ahead of time with Nations..........

Okay..
but this future is sooooo distant...

(with nadeo games)
I think nadeo will not make a free game with the maniaplanet games, but, let's wait.

people download Crysis anyway since it's more an engine demonstration than it is a game. For benchmarking purposes.

Imo it`s the opposite. F2P is the death of any game that goes that way. It`s just not possible to deliver a very good product if the company can`t count on a steady income. I played enough f2p games to know that. Nadeo is definitely going the right way with what they are doing currently.
Most people that support f2p just want to play games for free and forget that the companies have bills and employees to pay. Nothing good comes for free. Usually you end up paying more for all the advantage goodies in f2p games (if you want to be competitive) than you pay for p2p.
PS: But I do agree that the current DLC developement is bad. I think what we had in the past was great, just the usual price for buying the game and later (important! AddOns should not be developed before release of the base game) AddOns are developed, which really add to the game, at a lower cost than the base game.

Team Fortress 2 is a good example. The game became F2P and made more income than ever. You need to have TF2 Premium (achieved by either having bought the game while it was not F2P or buying something from the Mann Co. Store (for which you need to use Steam Wallet (for which the lowest possible transaction is $5))) to actually be able to trade something. While, after getting premium ($5+) you do not need to spend a single cent more, it's a good model. Also, the item store itself.
