ManiaPlanet 2 Beta Server 2012-07-04

Hello!
Long time no see... :mrgreen:

Sooo...
Here is a new dedicated server that goes with the maniaplanet 2 release.
It is a server for both Trackmania and Shootmania.
It is needed for the new -soon to be released- client, and is incompatible with older clients.
(and it doesn't work with the storm alpha either.)

I'll try to list the changes in a subsequent post, but be informed that:
  • it should be compatible with current maps, xml-rpc plugins, etc..
  • It is still in beta and will evolve during the beta phase.
  • you need to specify "/title=TMCanyon" or /title=SMStorm (or edit the dedicated_cfg file) to select the game.
    (that's the cause for the "ERROR: The map doesn't match the server packmask." message)
Caveat:
During the beta phases, the lan mode is disabled -> so this server doesn't work in lan mode.

For the players needing to use lan mode during this period, (or for some other reason), it is possible to re-install the current MP1 canyon version via a specific setup. Those players "not wanting to upgrade" won't be able to connect to this new server; so you can still use the latest Maniaplanet 1 compatible server:

so, a just to be sure of question:
i update my canyon servers with this one too, and i guess they will not be reachable until the mp2 is
pushed to the canyon client too?

This does not work, the client has been pushed today and i had to switch onto this server update and what do u think.....

Default MatchSettings in RunSrv.sh are set to SMStormRoyal.txt and title to SMStorm :D
You should maybe change it^^

What do u think :

I don;t change the .sh
During the beta phases, the lan mode is disabled -> so this server doesn't work in lan mode.

I have freaking nat loopback issues with my isp so only are able to connect on a lan mode.
Now what ???

For fake LAN mode, use /forceip=[local IP] in command line. The dedicated still need to connect to the master server to check login and password but you'll be able to join your server.

Has the API version changed? E.g 2011-10-06. I see new element members that were not there in previous server versions.

2nd: what the *****?
dedicated.pak 151 MB?

pls remove this paks out of the dedicated, my server isnt driving on my server and there for it eaven don´t need a monitor to see the nice graphics ;)
edit: if u don´t want to remove this paks, what about fake paks?

3rd: I told u this allready several times, just make the new version public in the old dedicated thread,
can´t be so hard!

As i do not know if i shoukd post this in the server and/or client thread i gonna post in in both :D

Seriously ... what the hell?

I just updated to Maniaplanet 2 and now i can't connect to nearly ANY TM2-Server including my own ones! :teub:

Why? However udpates in between nadeo games or Maniaplanet are done or handled, they always need to be compatible within!

Now it seems i need to update all my TM2-Server so people with the MP2 installed can connect to it again, right?
But what happens then to the people who got MP1 installed and wont install MP2 right now as it is optional atm?

Very confusing chaos ... :(
