To open the dds files in Photoshop you'll need a dds plugin. I use this one:

Hey thanks for the quick reply eyebo, but i'm having trouble with "To select this crosshair in a network game go to, InGameMenu/InterfaceSettings/ "Select" button at the dialog bottom." I cant find that. The rest i managed to do ^^

When you're playing on a server....
Hit ESC.
Then go to ADVANCED OPTIONS.
Then go to INTERFACE SETTINGS.
In there you will have some text that says SELECT.
That will let you choose the .zip of the crosshairs you've made and saved in the crosshairs folder.

Thanks again. When i select the zip file the crosshair has the same look as this one:

I created new image with transparent (tried with black also) background and draw something. Then i saved it as a .dds file (with default settings) and used that. I think the saving settings from the plugin are not ok. What are yours?

I'm actually not using a custom crosshair.
I just shared what I know so far.
I played with it a little bit when it was first added, but I don't remember what settings I used for saving.
Here's some from the private alpha forums:
Maybe you can take a look at these and see how they did it to get some idea how it works.
