No LP if you join a game in progress

How does this make any sense? I have joined a game that has just started and played through a majority of it, hell I've even joined a match that had already started and won, but received no LP due to this arbitrary rule.
This really discourages me from trying to hard in the first round when I join a server, as I know it won't mean as much as the next one.

This is something I think deserves looking into/changing.

Thoughts/considerations?

Yeah they could give a little bonus (while not the whole amount), but I guess the main reason to play the game is to get better rather than gaining ladder points anyway.

System is good. It prevents early leaving.

Sure it does, but you're generally joining a already running game, and there is no reason for "punishing" those people (like I said, I don't really see it as a punishment, but others might do).

Things do not work that way.
Usually, the chance that you get you full LP join mid-game is relatively small.
Also, this would allow boosting, through server hopping.

system is bad. e.g. in royal, if you're late just by one round, and manage to get first at the end, you don't get any LP. that sux, don't you think?

how to make it good? give smaller amount of points, depending on how long you were playing through the game. for example, if game lasted 10 minutes, and you joined 5 minutes after start, you get half as much points.

Yes. I just think that right now systems works on the principle - fulltime:LP, parttime:NOLP.
If it is strict on no reward for premature leave - it is fine.

That's what I thought about aswell, but you should only get points at the end of a match.

Yes. Round based LP would be too democratic either.

I think the main reason for this is that if one gets points for beating others, others get points for beating him too. So if they simply made it possible to get LP for the first round without any other changes, everyone would get more points when a high-ranked player joins at the end of a match. A sophisticated system that counts the time spent in the round could fix this, though.
