[Editor]Ghosts while Editing

How many time while in the editor did you wish that you could see exactly where the car was going to land going off the jump besides playing and guessing and then playing again and then correcting? Wouldn't it be awesome if you could play/test a track then exit to the editor and have the car frozen in the exact place it was when you left playing and entered the editor. The car would not have to get in the way of blocks and it would only be a help to see where your landing should be. It would be even cooler if you could add trails so that you could see the entire trajectory of the jump!

That would be awesome!

That would also go along the lines of having more cams than just 1 2 and 3...even in UF in the three "Original" enviros ported over, they've got like 6 cams...

Great idea! It would be even better if we could also adjust the speed of this kind of ghost.

Or just let others drive in while you build. As I suggested already here

But it's more complex

I think the easiest way to see an implementation of this for the client to take 'snapshots' of where you are. These snapshots include the position and orientation of the car. These snapshots would be from a replay that you drive in race mode and would be able to toggle on/off in the editor.
In the editor would be translucent (opaque is okay too) representations of these snapshots, which would be visible while you go and place your next blocks.
-not adjustable, only on/off toggle
-snapshots from your last replay (special driving mode for this kind of thing?)
Seems like it would be really useful for calculating jumps/drops etc, and an invaluable asset to PF builders
Then again ... I'm just speculating ...

So here's an add-on to that idea. You have like a "hand", right? Or mouse, whatever. And you can set your car at any part of the track you want to test. Set the speed, some basic parameters (take corners or no or something like that) and then set go and watch your track from the editor. Because I'm no good at gauging distances in the car and then going back to the editor and seeing where stuff should go. If I could do that all from the editor screen that would be awesome.
