Messaging and Notification System aka Facebook

Trackmania United came with a fabulous messaging system. A notification system like the one used in Facebook could be use to provide information about the activities of buddys. The following activities could be made known between buddies:
- Dedi changes
- which servers they are playing on
- changes to nicknames, avatar
- uploads, downloads, likes of entities like mods, tracks, skins
- challenges driven, position attained.
A notificaiton system would increase the FUN in Trackmania.
Be in the speed,
QuantumBliss.

Moved into the right forum.
Nadeo introduced ManiaHome which was a simple idea, now they rely on the community to feed it. I'm sure nadeo will expand/build on it over time. I believe this is suitable for what you suggested.
I also get annoyed by people who keep using Facebook as a source for ideas, it's a bad example. You think doing things '
the Facebook way' would really change anything? Would it 'increase the fun'? I don't think so, it'll be the same game with a
little more of a social aspect to it.
Excuse my little rant, but people need to stop doing it.

uploads /downloads , change nicknames, avatar, joining friends, chat with friends, getting messages when friends write to you and when he upload a new track / car/... will be all available at Maniaplanet, I think this section is called ,,Maniahome´´ but Im not sure

I agree with fastforza. If you would like a little more social aspect to Trackmania then go to the TM forum or TMX or perhaps even here

I do not think that Trackmania needs to become another "Facebook" I like it the way it is, I don't want to be setting a World record on some track and then all of a sudden a notification pops up on my sceen: "Your friend just posted something on your Maniapage! Click here to view!" I would be like, %$#$#$#%

^&^&^%^%

$%^$%&&^%$^

(pardon my language), but i don't want my racing interuppted for frivolous things like a facbook-like notification system. If i wanted this i would have a facebook, which i don't.

probably the already requested "buddies-chat" (also when not playing) would be enough.. at least for me.

Everything is linked to Facebook these days. Maybe there will be a tool available to install that shows/notifies you about buddies etc., just like Messenger does if you receive a new e-mail or something like that. (I think that'll work better and you don't need a Facebook account that way. Just you and TrackMania 2/ManiaPlanet)

Man, I want less facebook, and more LAN. All the latest games, particularly in racing/FPS (Battlefield P4F, Burnout Paradise, NFS Hot Pursuit) they're taking -out- features (Lan play, replays, proper customization), and inputting more Facebook CRAP. Yes, I said it, Facebook is CRAP. I've never had one, and don't intend to--because every time I look at a friend who has facebook, they're zombiefied shells of their true selves, playing farmville or doing some other dumb acheivement. If it was only used as a more convenient contacting service (e-mail/IM) I could see its value. However, only a small portion of Facebook is actually used in this way. The rest is inane overkill that simply serves to turn you into a Zucker-Zombie.

Marry me.
I hate facebook even though I had it for a couple of days but then "closed" my account because I hated it. I want more TMX, more LAN, more maniaplanet, more TM2 BETA KEEEHS but -not- fayshbook.

+1 I'm all for huge user community, ease of access, and all sorts of tools that make being a community easier. But don't compare them to facebook. I mean, we have our own systems here. TMX, TM-Carpark, ManiaHome, ManiaLive...and lots of others I've never had the chance to fully explore (such as ManiaLinking.) Compare them to that

I mean, here's just how stupid (yet pervasive) Facebook has gotten. I was surfing for apps on my iPod Touch a while ago, and I saw a PAID app (for like 5 bucks) that was essentially a tap-and-roll facebook game! Independent of facebook itself.

I'd like if this function -if implemented- was possible to disable
I'm really not a friend of sharing every piece of my life and my data with other people out there.
