SM: Storm - planned release ... And what TM: Valley ?

Post by RamCUP2000 »

My forecast is: Q3 2012 ( July - September ) :gobananas:

The most important question is:
Will be released "Valley" this year ?
Will fulfill its promise?

I think not.
Still no date for the ShootMania be released, there is nothing about the QuestMania, then perhaps there is nothing this year to Valley.
Unless someone from Nadeo talk about something else, but I do not think.

May 12, 2012... Hylis spoke about their plans for Valley. I'll quote the translation given by TMarc from the E3 topic:
TMarc wrote:
translation: "Valley has evolved a lot until this year started, and we have put it aside to finish Storm now. Our aim is indeed to make it good and release it when it's ready, this is all we can tell at the moment. I think this we will see a release this year"

They release it when it's good....
Cya in a few years.

Every 3 months a new game will be in french terms: every 3 years a new game.

Where did you get that every 3 months there would be a new game?
Once they said "a new environment for each game in a year", so for TM, SM and QM, makes one env every 4 months, but not really totally new games ;-)

oops, sorry for the light translation errors
You can click on the link behind Hylis' name in my quotation above for the original thread and topic.

Basically this means we don't exactly know when Storm will be ready, and in consequence, when Valley will be released. Perhaps it will be a Christmas or New Year's gift, who knows.

All we know is that Nadeo started first with Valley, and they stopped to work on it in favor of Canyon and later Storm.
Since there were some very nice screenshots and movies about Valley already long ago, we can expect it pretty much ready, probably much less work left than we might think, but it is secret of Nadeo ;)

Let's wait and see.

canyon is just "retextured" valley, so they had to start from scratch again to make smth new.

Well, in mid-2010 it was said:
Hylis wrote:Our target is to release one environment every four months and maybe do updates in between.
(Source)

Since each environment is sold separately, they can be considered individual games. Even if, together, they make up ManiaPlanet.

What makes sense to me is that once the first license of each game is released (the first TM2, first SM, first QM) the rest will come along a lot faster since there will be a lot less to add or even test for each new environment. Things started slow, but will very likely pick up pace as we get closer to the finish line.

None of this is that surprising though really. Go read the source post from which I took that quote. In it, Hylis explained quite clearly that things would start slowly.

Stay positive! Good things come to those who wait!

I agree. I think once they get everything 'fine tuned' the games will grow quickly. Making sure everything is done correct from the beginning though is important and worth taking time on. If they rush to throw stuff out on the market people will just complain that it's buggy and unpolished. Negative feedback about Canyon has likely caused them to fine tune things more for the future.
I for one am excited to see what's next.
