A question for everyone.

Post by SuCCeSSoR-040 »

Hi there,

I am working on my 2nd Press Forward. (My first one was [PF]-Pinball that you may know of)
Now I want to make the longest TM2 Press Forward map out there.
So my question is: "Which Press Forward map that you know of is the longest?"
I think the longest I've seen was around 5 to 5,5 minutes. Dunno the name anymore. :(
So you guys know any longer ones?
And keep in mind it has to be a Trackmania 2 PF!

Thnx in advance.
(My current PF project is already about 5 minutes. Just FYI) ;o)

Extra Large by vossi84 is 5:29

Pinball by SuCCeSSoR-040 is 4:10

Good luck making the longest one! I certainly don't have the patience for it, so I have huge respect for anyone who builds such a long PF.

pfff good luck with that. i made a PF track once with the restriction that it had to be build on a 5x5 base, and that was tough. a super-long pf track would take a lot of time to test over and over.

anyway, since i've been around here for quite a while, i've seen some long PF tracks already:

- Pingo Flamin (marci), this one i knew by heart, one which i thought was the longest with 11:38.
- Moon Fight (bruno333), however, when i looked for the url of the previous one, i stumbled across this one, which is 12:12.
- Longest PF (marci), however, technically the longest PF, but not an 'interesting to watch' PF, is this one, by the same author of Pingo Flamin. this one's boring as hell, but is in fact 2219:32...!

good luck building the longest! i think you'll have to pass the 12:12 barrier for that. however, other kind of restrictions can be quite interesting as well (f.e. my 5x5 track, if anyone's interested - btw, you cannot play it in the current version of the game, you'll need TMN ESWC for it).

@Jumperjack,
I get an error on the first 2 you mention here. But I have the feeling those are TMN PF maps aren't they?
No problem though since I asked for the longest TM2 PF. ;)

And yes eyebo, it was Extra Large. I knew someone would bring that name back up on me. :D

Tonight I worked a few hours again on my PF and am currently at 5:13m. So I'm nearly at the length of XL.
I am planning something between 6:30 and 8:30 as I believe that will be the longest TM2 PF then.
And yes, I have huge amounts of patience available since a few seconds of track with just 2 or 3 pieces of blocks placed can easily take you 1 to 1,5 hours now. And the agony of watching the track over and over again will only be longer after every block placed. So I guess it still takes me some weeks to finish this map.

Also have some nice MT ideas for it. But I still have to see if those ideas can be worked out the way I want them. Time will tell.

But still people, anyone else knows a longer TM2 PF than Extra Large?

I don't know a PF any longer than the ones mentioned.

In my opinion, lenght in a PF track is a great bonus value, but the quality of the stunts/smoothness are the 2 main points that make a PF track enjoyable to watch.

If you can combine all of these, of course, kudos.

Good luck on that project. I'll look forward to pressing forward on that one.
What's your prefered method for holding the forward key for so long?
I set a Chrome Lug Nut on my up key! :pil

While editing and testing the track over and over I have an elastic band around my controller so the car drives itself without me pressing buttons. :P

And PapyChampy:
Yes, smoothness and stunts are very much present in this one as well as speed. There are quite some WTF-moments as I may call them like this. :)

A little update for ya.
The track surpassed the 6:30m mark now and I'm still pressing forward. Just so you know. ;o)

The progress is getting terrifyingly slow now, it's getting at the point that my patience will be heavily tested.
