Potential cheat

Please make sure at gamestart it checks if the default mod hasn't been tempered with.
otherwise there will probably be an all white mod released within a day

Chams/wall hack let you see through walls, where as white textures would just make visible players stand out.
While a white mod applied via maps aren't bad, modifying the default textures client side may be considered cheating by some. Although much like scripts in valve, id software, and other games, it could be said that if the user can do it, it isnt cheating.

yeah i totally agree. if you can rob a bank it isn't stealing. if you are strong enough and you punch all opponents to the floor and score a goal during sports it isn't cheating.

TM² already redownloads game files if you change em so, seeing how it already is being done, we can expect it in SM

well i dont think that Nadeo will stop mod from being able to be used in ShootMania, and anyway if a map has a clear mod then all players would have an advantage.

In a way it makes sense. The blocks in Canyon have a lot more surfaces than the blocks in TM environments. So if you make one texture transparent, some other textures might show through that surface....which would be very weird.

wasn't talking of a mod for everyone, was talkin about replacing the base mod and disabling downloading content. (to prevent other mods from being loaded)

The game would automatically check the game files with a checksum, if it finds out that the files are not the original ones it would attempt to downloda the content. If you disable it the game will prevent you from playing it.
