[SM] MP 12029 Error.

Hello to everyone,
I'm new here, but I've searched a lot of topics about my problem but haven't found any solution so I'm writing right now.

Yesterday me and two friends of mine had bought SM pack for 3 gamers. Downloaded the media planet client but can't connect, can't create the account.
"Unable to reach the server/connect (12029)"
And without connecting online at least once i can't even play/try SM who needs my account logged once.
So what can I do?
I've already done this

kalimerre wrote:Check your host file in windows (You can find his location here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hosts_file)

Then put this file in editable mode (right click on this file => uncheck the hut read-only).
You need to remove these ligns (if it appears)

Code: Select all

127.0.0.1 mp02.maniaplanet.com
127.0.0.1 mp01.maniaplanet.com
127.0.0.1 mp03.maniaplanet.com
127.0.0.1 game.maniaplanet.com
You save your new files and recheck the hut read-only.

Now try to connect to ManiaPlanet.

and nothing changed at all.
Please help me, I don't know what to do.
Firewall down, and antivirus too.

Thanks for your help.

The thing with 127.0.0.1 is something you should entirely forget about.
This was used in the past to have local play running somehow, but this doesn't help at all.

Make sure you have removed anything related to ManiaPlanet from your hosts file again!

I suggest you double check your router (it certainly also has a firewall), your Windows internal firewall, and also your anti-virus software, if it has a firewall internally.

Which one are you using in fact?

Are you able to connect to the player page using your webbrowser? just to make sure you don't suffer from a network split.

I'll check my router firewall in a second and let you know.
BTW I can't connect to the player page and searching I've found different topics that say: "You have to create the account on your ManiaPlanet Client."
So this is my first Mania game after TMN (like 4/5 years ago) so no account for me and the Sign in button send me in a loop- Maniaplanet.player page-->ShootMania page--->Maniaplanet and so on.

What TMarc means (I think) with connecting to the Player Page if you are getting an loginscreen, or some interneterror?
Because if you get an interneterror your computer can't connect to ManiaPlanet for sure, if you do get an loginscreen it means there is some other problem.

When I try to connect to the Player Page I get a log screen, where I try sign in and the web page say: "This player does not exist.". And when I click on the link below "Not registered yet? Discover Maniaplanet now!" the webpage become this one: http://www.maniaplanet.com/manifesto and I can't create an account, because the sign in button send me again on the player page sign in page.

Thanks for your help TMarc and TheM, suddenly it worked. I've restarted my router and opened up, again, the port used by maniaplanet. This morning it was useless now worked. :D
