Car paint not saved

Hello,

I have a persisting problem that I can't seem to solve. As you know you can paint any pre-edited model in TM2 to your liking and save it as a separate car model. However when I try to save my work, the following happens: in the car selection the small model has the new paint but when I choose the new car, it looks exactly like the base model before I touched it. So whatever I do to the car it is not saved and the skin is set to the basic one used for painting.
I'm aware of the fact that there are 2 save buttons and I do know which one to use. I have a screenshot posted to let you see what I mean.

If anyone has a solution please respond, I can't wait to make my new car models.
Here's the link to the screenshot: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/16268908/problem1.jpg

Regards,
HunGredy

I can't reproduce your issue. Do you have the last update of TrackMania² (2013/02/12)? What is your system specs?

Actually what he/she means. If you want to save your work as... It gives an fault error.

The error is Invalid File name.

If you save it with the normal save button it does get saved. (The icon without the saveicon+ .dds)

Version:

12/02/2013 13:44.

System specs in signature.

Nadeo: I have the last update, but the problem occured before it was applied and still persists. I have already contacted somebody at Nadeo and she said I should post it here. System specs (the ones I think count):
- NVidia GeForce GTX460 graphics card 768MB with latest driver
- 4GB RAM DDR3
- Intel i5-340 processor

w1lla: I didn't recieve any error messages. The game seemed to save the skin without any problem until I quit and try to select the new car. The other save button (by which I mean the one that is NOT "save as") does not work. I can only save with the '"save as" button but it generates the wrong skin.

Please check your video settings in the launchers configuration, see also here http://wiki.maniaplanet.com/en/Configur ... figuration

The shader quality needs to be nice or very nice, and the texture quality medium or high, then it works.

It seems it was not yet fixed :|

The overall settings was "Very nice" already before I encountered this problem which means the shader quality is on very nice and the texture is on high. My machine has no problem handling high settings but the problem still exists.

Question is before you start changing all your game settings or resorting to a clean install or anything drastic is the game actually painting your car and saving it. Have you checked your saved skin?
It should be here Documents\ManiaPlanet\Skins\Models\CanyonCar called Custom1.zip or whatever name you gave it.
Open the zip and you should have 2 files SkinDiffuse.dds and Icon.dds. If you have nothing to open the .dds file share it and I will take a look

I just thought it would be easier and quicker if someone else looked at it :roflol:
If I was to get into all the download this and download that I would say don't use the ingame painter, it's crap, download gimp or paint.net bla bla bla

:pop:

Skeleton & zarexz :roflol:

Another hint: please check in your skins folder if the new skin is not there as tmp file.
This sometimes happened in the past too.
Reason? Windows system, Viruscan, whatever slows down the saving process...

Just rename the .tmp to .zip and check again in your profile.
