Restart the game to switch Environment?

What is up with the way of switching between Stadium and Canyon shown in the picture below? (I use steam to launch the game.) I mean its pretty annoying when you have to switch environment, also what about multi environment servers (if it will be available?) Will the game restart at every environment change when playing on a server?
My proposal to fix this is to have Maniaplanet to be a free game on steam with no games and then buying Canyon, Storm, Stadium and so on like DLC packages so that you can install inside the game. That way you only have 1 game on steam instead of all individuals, but you still have to buy the games as individuals.

Actually, yes it needs a restart everytime u switch on the steam installation. Every title has a own dedicated directory in steam "-.-
Thats what u get, if you are trying to get your own content system manager running and integrate it into another
They should make "Maniaplanet" free2play in steam and add all the stuff as "DLC" to buy ... but ye ... then no1 knows what "Maniaplanet" is on the frontpage

I figured something like this might happen. Was in the process of downloading the steam version to check it out, cancelled. I'll stick with my normal maniaplanet installation.
Still good that it's on steam though, should bring in a massive amount of new players.

What is the reason to restart the game when you change of environment?
Is it to display the correct message on Steam (xxxx is playing TrackMania² Stadium)?
Couldn't the game automatically load the files from an other environment installed using Steam?

I think it's because each environment is in a separate folder and maybe Steam block to access to an other folder to avoid problems.

It's more the way that Steam works actually

Yeah, I guessed, but would it not be possible to avoid this "error" by using a free to play Maniaplanet base with no games, and then installing the "real" games like DLC's?

If DLC, you need to have and update all environments all the time you want to play on ManiaPlanet (you play on it or not).

I don't see a technical reason why maniaplanet couldn't look in other folders to find the files of other environments.

None steam users don't see reasons to play it through steam because of the technical complications and restarting on envi switch etc.
