So me and my friend just bought Trackmania 2 on steam and we love the game but are finding the maniaplanet client a bit of a nightmare. When we're both online I can see him online but he can't see me online. I've double and tripple checked in my profile and on my account page that i'm set to online but he still can't see me. I can even race online against other people in multiplayer.

Another huge annoyance is that we can't see each others times. I created a team for us and we have both set a bunch of official times (As well as training ones obviously) but we can't see each others times on any leaderboards. The team leaderboard doesn't show the other person.

Both things are hugely irritating because I used to love trackmania 1 back in the day and would love to get heavily into trackmania 2 now that it's on steam. Any help would be much appreciated as they are kind of ruining the game for us

Did you both activated your game-key that came with your purchase?
Because some features are still disabled if you didn't do so.

I don't think we got keys because we bought the game directly from steam. The weird part is that we can both play online and we can see each other online if we go to our player page on mainaplanet.

Is it just me or is maniaplanet insanely confusing? This should all be super simple. The first thing you want to do when you play a racing game is see your friends lap times

I take it you mean all the solo achievements.

Are you both from the same country ? If so, you should easily enough see each others achievements then without having to filter etc too much. Also you mentioned a team.. do you mean a group ? I know in the past the group feature was a bit buggy, but works well now.

Training times probably won't show, but official times should definitely be recorded.

Maybe it takes a while for the leaderboards to update, how long ago did you set those times?

We're in separate countries atm because i'm working abroad as an expat. Will that make a difference?

Yeah, I made a group which we both joined (it's called a team on some of the menus which makes it confusing) but it only shows my times in it, not my friends official times. It shows us both in the group when I look at the members list and him joining appeared as a notification in my news feed.

It's been a couple of days now but I still can't see his times. This also wouldn't explain why he can't see me (or see my messages) when we're both online. It's very frustrating, especially when the base game is so good

Yea this bug of not able to see my friend when he is online does exist, occurred to me too few times and it looks random. Sometimes we are on the same server talking on the skype and the game still think we are not .
