[B3.1] Canyon Editor: Mountain type 2 need erosion

The mountain type 2 blocks, those sandy hills with 45° slope, also need a more random erosion "decoration" like it is done for the cliffs with the blocks 9-3-x and 9-4-x.

Yeah, and then your computer needs more 'decoration' aswell. In terms of processors and memorybanks :D

You're going a bit crazy with all your ideas m8. Who moderates the mods??? :D

I already thought about that too.
This forum definitely needs a "Suggestion" subforum, as it's actually just for bug-reports

I just hope Nadeo looks through all these topics carefully to find out which of them are bug reports and which of them are just suggestion and wishes. I fear that they could miss to fix some of those reported bugs somehow... :0010

This forum here is for any kind of reports we encounter during the Beta.
And since Canyon has new blocks, and still a few things not fixed from the original release,
why not put them here again?

Not all reports have high priority, but it is up to Nadeo to decide what to implement and what not.
But if we stop reporting, nothing will change at all.

oh really?
I thought it was only for the bugs. My bad then :0010

What are we looking at? Trick pictures? Or is this TM only? If so, I don't understand your question for more erosion?
Hard to see what's real and what's not

The pictures (except the first two on top, taken during a train ride from Denver to Sacramento) are taken with the Replay Editor, using a custom camera. No montage this time, no effects.

You know, it depends really how you are using the rocks.
If you spend enough place to avoid some repetitions, you can get a more natural looking landscape.
But the track will be 1 to 3 minutes duration maximum.

If you use the 45° hills a lot, especially on longer mountains without breaking them, you can see relatively flat mountain sides.
Even with rock decoration it is still flat. And it is not always "natural" to place the trees everywhere.
Agreed TrackMania is not necessarily meant to be realisitic, but it is relatively closes :3

A few examples where I would recommend some more natural erosion:
- make the block surface disappear / melt down in the mountain, the triangles (block corners) should disappear

- random erosion decoration on 45° hill sides and on 2x3 45° hill top (which is totally flat in fact):

Of course this is just nitpicking, and therefore it is only "nice to have" ;)

The desert between Saltlake City and Las Vegas looks about the same. No prove though, I have only real paper photos 8-)

I usualy lose focus after a minute anyway

Yep

Agreed. Would be nice if they could something with pointclouds and create totaly random variations. :pil

I don't understand the difference between points in a pointcloud and vertices in a mesh. Couldn't you procedurally move vertices in a mesh to get a random terrain?
