Once I bought and downloaded TrackMania 2, it was working fine! :pil I LOVED IT!!!! But after a few updates, the sound of my car is gone! (Does it on Stadium and Canyon) But after restarting the level over a few times, it come back for a few seconds, then its gone again...

I hope you guys fix this bug, or tell me how to fix it! :) Thanks for your time!

BTW, I can't wait till Valley, Stadium, and all the other modes come out! :pop:

in launcher -> configure -> advanced, change sound quality to normal.

The latest game update has caused this issue to rear its ugly head on my PC. I've never had it before. I have always had my sound quality set to normal. Now for whatever reason, I just played the game with practically no engine sound. It just went really quiet and I could just about hear it driving solo. No chance on a busy server. The model I am using is a customised version of the Nadeo StadiumCar (bibigallaz StadiumCar 2.0c) and appears to use the default engine sounds.

The first time I ran the game after Steam patched it there was no problem. The second time, very quiet engine which is disconcerting.

It took a couple of reloads to get it working again. Someone suggested changing car model. I did that and it made no difference. Still no sound. Using my original model after reloading worked again. How long it will carry on for I can't say. Going to keep an eye on this.

Build 18/05/2013 08:26

EDIT: Seems to happen when switching between servers. On joining the new server there is only the faint engine sound.

If a dxdiag is needed by a Nadeo Staff Member to look into this, please pm me an email address and I will send it.

since the model is a modified stadiumcar and I don't play canyon I have taken the engine folder containing the sounds out of the skin zip file. hopefully that should work as the game is then forced to use the default stadium engine sounds. I have retained a copy with the engine sounds for further testing at a later date with next update/if you suggest any workarounds.

It's certainly a bug.
I have created a report with link to this thread: http://forum.maniaplanet.com/viewtopic. ... 89&start=0

Now I have investigated myself. I tried different audio settings, also changed the soundcard options, no change.
Then I had a deeper look - or a closer ear - to the car models.
In two models I have downloaded from CarPark (F3, and cappucino hot rod), especially those "body" sounds are mostly empty.
After overwriting the bad sounds with the working sounds, e.g. copy loop_10004Rpm_throttle_engine.wav to loop_10004Rpm_throttle_body.wav, the sound is back with no exception.

Apparently Stadium is taking only the "body" sounds!? :?

As this is already in discussion in another thread since a while, and Nadeo is also active there, lets see there then ;)

 Thanks TMarc. I will post a link to the linked thread on Maniaplanet so the 3D crew and any other model creators can take note about empty sound files.

Please wait until we have a more official solution.
The original Stadium car has not those issues, but it also has body sounds.

No worries, I've qualified it with the proviso:

(Please note, this is not an official Nadeo solution from TMarc and the situation may alter again before the game is released. However, the sound level changes still apply)

The F3 'empty sounds' do have content if you turn the speaker volume right up. So that goes back to the way the game has been altered with regards no longer normalizing loops.
