[MP] Connection error - 12029

Hey c:

I recently downloaded the ManiaPlanet program in order to play ShootMania. However, I've been encountering a connection error; "Cannot connect to the server (12029)"

I have looked up some solutions and have tried the following but I am still encountering the same problem:
>Turned off all anti-virus and added Mania Planet to exceptions of each Anti-virus.
>Disabled all Firewall programs, including Windows Firewall, and the firewall at my router.
>I have looked in my "hosts" file in c:/windows/system32/drivers/etc and have not found any problems there.

This was a fresh install and my first time using Mania Planet. I thought maybe there is a problem with your servers considering the beta for Shoot Mania was made free recently.

The issue is most probably something different.

A few things to check:
Is IE set to offline mode? :arrow: Please change it to online as ManiaPlanet is using Windows internet stuff.

Then there was some issue with a provider a while ago, still seomthing in the internet is not working properly,
and because of this access to two ManiaPlanet servers is not working properly: mp05 and mp06.
Can you see to which server your local client tries to connect to?

Please try the following:
ping www.maniaplanet.com
ping mp04.maniaplanet.com
ping mp05.maniaplanet.com
ping mp06.maniaplanet.com

In case a ping to a server fails, please use the tracert command to give additional info here, example:
tracert mp05.maniaplanet.com

Ah, it seemed to be a problem with Internet Explorer. It was trying to use a dial up connection and so I was required to change it to wireless.
