Nearly every matchmade game I join is filled to the rim with people who seem to lag. Here's some examples that I experience a lot:

On elite attacking: shoot some guy dead center -> shot graphic goes through him -> missed by 30cm.

On elite defending: I shoot a rocket at someone and he shoots the rocket and me with ONE shot (no, he didn't shoot it first and then instantly shoot at me, there was only one sound from him firing).

I don't know about the rest of the people of the world, but I optimised Win7 registry to be as consistent and lag free as possible. Sure, not many people know how to or care how to. What bothers me, if I have 25-30 ping and some guy with 80-90 ping (some people admit to this when I ask them) ruins the game for me - it's like he's playing normally and I'm handicapped because of his ping.

I know this probably isn't a big issue in the States, as you lot over there generally have decent internet. In Europe however, I can name a few countries whose ISP packet filtering systems are so backwards, or so "not-up-to-date-with-the-rest-of-the-world" that are almost impossible to kill in any FPS game. I even know of people who upload torrents while gaming so they can't be hit properly!

What's the point of this thread? Feature request for region locked matchmaking, pretty please. Or at least be given an option to choose which countries to avoid having the misfortune of being grouped with.


PS: For those of you who think this is a rage post, it is not. If lemons were coloured orange, would it still be called a lemon? Spaghetti and Mayonaise.

Region locking of servers can be achieved via several user-made server controllers. I remember that XAseco had such a feature for TMUF/TM², don't know if any of the ServerMania-compatible controllers has a similar feature though.
This shouldn't be the solution though, because I know several people who have friends all over the world and a region-locked match making would make it really hard to play with them.
NADEO is constantly trying to improve their netcode, and optimizing a game for both, high and low pings, can be hard to find the right compromise.
People with bad pings shouldn't be the ones who get punished for their internet but low pings shouldn't be either - it's hard to find a balance here :/

This might be so! But it wouldn't be an official matchmaking server. Or can it be?

Perhaps give people the option to region lock? As far back as I can remember, if you lagged in a game YOU were the one who was at a disadvantage. Now days these people make everyone ELSE suffer. Maybe they can't afford decent internet, or maybe, they do it on purpose. It's pretty much an accepted form of cheating, "Sorry my internet providor is bad", or, "lol I'm just better than you cry more". Forgetting the fact they don't seem to know what crying is, does this make it okay for shots to go through them, because their country has bad internet?

Another thing I've noticed, as I progress up the ladder, nearly 90% of the players I meet are these laggy types.. makes me wonder, are they only at this rank because of their lag? That isnt' fair. Honest, hardworking individuals have to put in twice as much effort or more, just to compete against it.

I know it's not easy to fix the problem, and I understand it's hard to balance it out.. but what's the point in playing a game where the idea is to shoot people, but you can't hit them? I love this game, but this is a really important issue that needs some sorting out.

In some points I agree, I'm in top 10-15 of Asia now and since the day before yesterday I get massive lag too.

Or maybe that's because of last update, because before that update my ping was even less than 20, now it's over 250. -_-, the lag is getting bad enough here to give even myself problems with moving -_-#

Haven't changed anything on my connection. Neither before nor after last update.
