[TM2][Key]Canyon key is invalid?

Hi,

I purchased TrackMania2: Canyon yesterday from here: http://us-maniaplanet.gamesplanet.com/s ... nia-canyon
I received a CD-Key/Multiplayer Key in a confirmation email/receipt. I downloaded and installed the game, and when it prompted for the activation key, I used it, and it works fine. Basically, I can play TrackMania2: Canyon just fine. Now, I want to activate the same key on Steam, just to keep folders concise. Unfortunately, I can't activate the key through Steam, because it is saying that it is invalid. The key has this format (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXX), but apparently Steam does not accept it. I have tried both copy/paste and manual entry, and both times, the key would not work.

It appears users have had success, though it looks like they have been mostly confined to private messages. Is there any chance for some help? Thanks!

How did you enter the key there?
Copy the key from the confirmation mail, and make sure you don't copy any trailing blanks!
If you enter by hand, make sure the letters are all CAPITALS.

To try if the process is working, I tried to activate my key, XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXX and it worked well,
and it is downloading now.

TMarc, those are the exact steps I performed the other day. When I performed them, I tried multiple times, double-checking to make sure the key was correct. Oddly enough, I tried again just now, and the activation key worked perfectly fine. Maybe I wasn't careful enough, previously. The key works now, and I'm downloading TrackMania 2: Canyon on Steam.

Hi,

I have the same Steam issue: "Key is invalid". In my case however, I bought the game from GamersGate. Is my activation key not able to be used on Steam because of this? It's in the same format as described by Spikehead (XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXX). I have entered it by hand, as well as copy + paste, being extra careful not to include blank spaces. It doesn't work regardless. :(

When did you purchase it actually? A long while back, or just a few days or weeks ago?
It is correctly activated with ManiaPlanet and you can still play there (outside of Steam)?

Possibly Steam doesn't know all the keys all the time.
Please try it tomorrow again, and if it still doesn't work, we have to contact Nadeo.

I bought it today (it was just released on GamersGate). It has activated fine outside of Steam, so the code is ok, only Steam doesn't seem to like it! I prefer having my games all in one place, in the case of Steam, that means bound to my account. Thus, I would much prefer it if I could activate through Steam.

I didn't think of that and given how it went with Spikehead, I imagine it is a possibility. I will try it again tomorrow and hope for the best. Thanks for the response and I will let you know how it goes.

*Edit -- It's a no go, sadly. What's the best way to get in contact with Nadeo?

I don't know how exactly this key exchange is working between Nadeo, Ubisoft and Steam.
And as our primary contacts (Aliona, Cerovan) seem to be on leave this week, we have to wait anyways until tomorrow.
Would you please try again tomorrow as well? Then you can still PM to Alinoa. ;)

It's cool, thanks for the continued support. It's not working at the moment, but if it will work sometime down the line, no worries. I can be patient and wait. I was more concerned whether buying from GamersGate was the issue, but as I understand it, every purchased copy should redeem on Steam. Right?
