Hi guys
I was in the Shootmania beta and of course it has ended already so when I open ManiaPlanet it says that I still have free access to the Royal and Elite modes. I thought to myself "why not?" and went in to see if there were any servers. The answer - not many. Not just less than the beta, but significantly less than the beta.

Is it true that hardly anyone plays the game? Or is everyone else playing the other modes, not Elite or Royal? Or are "free" players unable to play with paid players and once I buy the actual game I'll be able to see and play with them?

Because if no one is playing I might reconsider buying the game which is a shame, beta was so much fun

BTW are there many people playing custom game modes?

It mainly depends on the hour of the day you want to play. During evening every mod is really played and u can find easily 7/8 pages of servers full of players (im talking about elite).. The same happens more or less for royal. I have no idea of the player base during the rest part of the day since I'm not at home except in the evening..

Oh yeah, you're right I forgot to think about that. I only just checked once, like half and hour ago.

So it must be the reason. During launch time not much players are online. The situation gets better in the afternoon and in the evening. No panic

in comparison to some other games this actually is a reason to panic

ELITE EUROPE :
8tabs with 10servers each = 80servers with 6people (including private servers)
420players in europe in the evening.

Should be more if u ask me :/

Elite is Elite...
Count all of the other titles... players are constantly switching

Everyone is able to play with everyone... There is no split between beta free and bought game.
At the moment the free new accounts are not enabled so only people who was in beta and did not bought the game are able to play in Elite and royal.
When freemium accounts will be enabled a lot more of people will join from steam/communities as it will show up as a f2p.

Anyway... there will be always someone playing in elite... I've never seen less than 10 servers full so you don't have to worry

this game has LAN right? But does everyone need their own account? cos i'm thinking of picking up the game for hosting a lan party with some friends but i don't want to have to buy 6 copies of the game :/

Yeah, the server software can do LAN.

Just to say that there is more player online since the beta is finished. Maybe some don't see all of them, if they are in one mode or another. I think it is related to the release exposure, features and higher commitment of the buyers. Now, it may reduce short term, but with improvements, features, player creativeness, communication and demos, of course, I am quite confident we will be on the growth for quite some time.
