Tmarc, you can just use the "search Track->Random" option on MX. It would be the same

I know, but this is not exactly what I meant, because I would have to download it first, eventually move it to the downloaded tracks folder, etc.

I'm thinking of a micro-app ingame, that could be placed on a station: "Random Map".
You start ManiaPlanet, click on this station, and it loads and runs this map.
Then you can chose "next random map" or "back" (to main menu).
There should also be some options, e.g. if you want only random maps from one specific title, or if it could be chosen for any title (or only TrackMania ² titles) with or without mods.

Just an idea, regardless of it would really work or not

Or just click "Install & Play" on the track page.

Since i was bored i made a little script that downloads and starts a random MX map.

You actually have to tell the script how many maps mx has got but if you copy the link into clipboard it should be quite confortable

Update: Now you can just call randmx without the crappy tracks= parameter



PS: It's a very very simple tool. Maybe someone wants to expand the idea?
PPS: Sometimes maps don't work

I haven't tried it yet, but the reason why maps sometimes don't work is that sometimes people delete their tracks. The IDs are not reused. So you will have certain IDs that contain no tracks.

Anyway, the idea sounds great. I'm going to give it a try. Thanks for making this.
