[tmuf] Key disconnecting Account

Hi I have a 2nd copy of tmuf which I wish to give to a friend, I have gone to player page advanced and disconnected account, but when my friend tries to use the key to upgrade his nations account it says it is already associated with a united account. conversion aborted. My Questions are does the disconnect account option free the key for use with another account, and if it does how long does it take after I have disconnected the account before it can be used on another login. Please help, as far as I know I have taken all the correct steps to release the game key but it seems like the database where logins passwords and player keys is not updating.
