Nadeo vs Ubisoft vs Title Creation

As we (the customise community) are getting more and more into creation of titles and other custom content for the game, i'm curious what would happen if Ubisoft decides the sales aren't high enough to their standards.
How big is Ubisoft's influence on Nadeo?
Does Ubisoft own the company and can it close down the studio if sales aren't as expected?
Does Ubisoft own the copyrights of maniaplanet and can they close it down when they feel like it?
Would be nice to know before forming a team of coders, 2d/3d artists, writers, mappers etc. and putting loads of effort into creating something special if the game's life depends solely on the mood of a partner.
