[TM² Stadium] LOD + Draw Distance issues
Posted: 12 Jul 2013, 14:42
I have LOD issues with some road blocks + some draw distance issues with scenery blocks and with the booster fans.
My Hardware specifications:
MB: Gigabyte GA-Z77X-UD3H (rev 1.1.. BIOS F18)
CPU: Intel i5 3350P
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 660 (OC version) (latest NVIDIA Driver 320.49)
RAM: 2x 4GB Kingston Value RAM @ 1300 MHz
PSU: Antec EA 65O Green
Monitor: Samsung Syncmaster 2223NW (1680 x 1050 @ 60Hz)
1. LOD issue block 3-1-8 and 3-1-9 ... some other blocks as well but it's most obvious with these blocks.
At a certain distance the road looks 'squared' , but when I get closer the road pops into a normal rounded looking road again. This is very distracting ! I tried to ignore it at first but once you know it's there you just can't help to notice it anyways .. It's hard to focus on driving the map properly anymore then
Here are 2 pictures i made to show the LOD issue with this block
First picture is the 'squared' road as it appears from a certain distance :

Next picture is the normal road when i get closer :

2. Draw Distance Issue with some scenery blocks.
With some scenery blocks .. especially 8-5-1 , the edges from this block appear only at a certain distance, they just pop in when I'm close to them.
First picture is without edges:

Second one with edges (again as i get closer it pops in)

3. The booster fans.
I tried to make pictures but it just doesn't show properly (it's too dark)
When I'm at a certain distance the booster fans don't appear in those 'tubes' .. it's just empty !
I get closer .. the fans appear again ! also the edge from this booster sometimes appears and dissapears.
On a modded track with colored boosters it's very much noticeable.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I tried to play around with the settings in the Configuration Options (and nvidia control panel) but nothing seems to alleviate the issue, however the option 'Optimize Dynamic Geometry' helps a little bit but it's still there.
I thought maybe my gfx card was faulty but I tried it with my 'old' GTX 43O card and it has the same issue (however it's a bit less obvious with this card, more 'subtle' if you will).. even with my old computer i tried it and it it's just the same.
There are also some slight lighting issues (some areas light up and then get darker .. depends on distance again), but I can 'fix' this by setting the shader from 'very nice' to 'nice'... it' not so distracting however.
