I`m not using x264vfw, so I can`t help you with that. You can try
http://www.tm-tube.com/faq_convdetails.php
but it`s a little old maybe.

Anyway, If you are only rendering for further processing in Sony Vegas, I would go with Lagarith Lossless Video Codec in the first step. You get big files, but you start with full quality into the editing process and have only to compress the final video.

Don't export the file using x264. You should use an intermediate format like MJPEG. I use the codec that came with a BlackMagic video capture device. If no MJPEG codec is available, then just export uncompressed. Once exported, open Movie Maker, and use it to create a distributable .MP4 file.

I don't know why you would go and purchase something like Sony Vegas or Adobe Premier for this. Those are for professional video editing and are very costly, not to mention difficult to learn.

I use Lagarith as my intermediary codec.

And I use wmv or mp4(h264) to render out of Vegas for my final versions to upload to YouTube or TM-Tube. I'll probably be changing to Premiere soon though, as Vegas is much too prone to crashes for my liking. I've used it for 13 years, and it used to be better, but enough is enough. I can't take the crashes anymore.
