Graphics Card becomes Crazy with ShootMania

Post by Darkminus »

Hello,
I've got a problem with ShootMania since nearly one week:

Graphics card becomes totally crazy just after I start the game... Here's a video I made this morning:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti1N8lWsYb4

This only happens when ShootMania is running. Moreover it also happens when ShootMania is reduced (in background)

My Specs:

Proc: AMD Athlon X2 245
Graphics :Gigabyte HD5670 OC (Drivers Up to date)
RAM: 6 GB
Software: Win7 64bits, DX11

I tested my graphics card with various benchmarks, no errors, everything went fine. And this happens always when ShootMania is running.

Any help for this?

I think i can use this topic as an oppertunity to push my old bug-report. It is also causing graphic card card problems and flickering.

It clearly crashes my video card driver...
Even worse! My computer stays in this state until windows recover the driver and replace it by the original one. So it can take 1 reboot, 2, or 10... It's random.
It seems that something in my driver modified by ManiaPlanet, which makes my card to be so unstable.
My only solution is to wait for the driver to be stable...
Very odd bug.

Too bad

Did you try different settings of the game?
Star the Launcher, then Configuration, Advanced, Video, Compatibility.
First thing to try is the safe mode.
Other things to try are different settings for GPU/CPU Synchro, triple buffer, etc.
Did you also try to disable D3D9Ex?
This has caused some issues in the past.

One thing to keep in mind: the driver's own configuration panel settings must match the game configuration settings.
Wherever you can, select "Application" instead of "enabled" or "disabled" in the Amd panel.

Hello,
I tried to play with every settings, D3D9Ex stops the problem for a little bit, but the games is it unplayeble unplayable (Huge FPS Drops)

My driver seems dead now. It doesn't recover and don't stop crashing. My last solution to get my comp working now is probably formatting, since uninstalling and reinstalling the driver doesn't solve the problem.

I really don't understand what Maniaplanet could modify to cause this. I'm not really sure of anything now.

The problem is that it started to crash when I use ShootMania. But now my driver is bugged, it happens sometimes randomly, and everywhere. When Windows decides to repair the driver (which is also random...), everything gets back to normal, until I start ManiaPlanet again. The problem now is that Windows doesn't repair the driver anymore. So my computer is now unusable.

I'm 100% sure that my GC is not dead since Windows notify me that the Driver crashed itself. If the problem was caused by card, it wouldn't work again when drivers gets reloaded. Moreover, all benchmarks I did while drivers wasn't that bugged finished with no errors.

I think that's the first time I feel so lonely facing a computer problem

I'm sorry to read this

It is not that no one is interested, but the developper in charge of video stuff is most probably on vacation right now, as many others.

Just to be sure, did you use a driver cleaner to totally remove all settings?
Because it might happen that the driver itself is still ok, but the settings are not, and those might be kept even at uninstall.

Especially try this one:
http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/ ... ility.aspx

I know, I have a totally different video card, but I also had experienced crashes with one recent version of the video drivers, which were even told to be WHQL (somehow certified), very annoying, and resolved only by installing a older version and disabling auto-update of the driver panel.

Hello,

I removed all drivers using your soft.
Then I reinstalled my drivers.

I played 2 hours of CS, no problem.

Then I tried to start Maniaplanet. Got into the menu. Then tried to connect to a server. It didn't even had time to load map... Crash....

This becomes REALLY annoying...

But thanks for your help... :thx:

Too bad.
Could you try the debug version? If you don't have Steam, it should work, although it is a little bit older (begin of August) now: http://files.maniaplanet.com/debug_vers ... t_logs.zip
A updated version should be updated soon, I'll inform you as soon as I know it.

Just copy the exe from the zip where ManiaPlanet.exe is already, and start the ManiaPlanetLogs.exe.

Then, if it crashes, there should be a crashlog file in your ManiaPlanet profile files.

Hello,
I won't get any logs since it's not Maniaplanet which crashes, but my computer when I get that kind of graphics errors.

However, I deleted some files remaining in temporary folders of Maniaplanet, and it seems to not crash, for now. I'll wait and see what happens in the next days. :)
